I'm looking a bellhousing from a dead auto trans, 97 740il M62 engine, ZF 5hp24 transmission. Thanks

Not sure how many transmissions have a removable bellhousing. The 5hp24 that was in the 740il that this engine came from had one, anyway, I'm looking for a bellhousing that fits an M62 v8.
Crankshaft position sensor is not important, I can use a bellhousing without the sensor. Not sure if OBDI M60 cars had a removable bellhousing, but if they did, I could use one of those.
Thanks

Have one from a 5hp-24, but I'd need pretty good money for it as I'd planned to rebuild the trans. Send me an email through the forum if you'd like to discuss?

Kalevera, guess I don't have enough posts to access email. Anyway, no need to waste a transmission for just the bellhousing. But if you get in it and find out it's not cost effective to repair, please keep me in mind. Thanks

Still looking. If anyone has any ideas on how to locate one, please post.
I checked all local transmission shops in hopes I could maybe buy the bellhousing from a core, but no local shops will touch these.
Thanks

Yeah, the ZF part number for just the bell is 1058 322 011.
My real problem is not knowing how many different transmissions, model types and years had separate bell housings. If I knew that, I would have a better chance at finding one. I don't care what transmission it came from, I just need it to fit the M62 block.

Bell housing located, thanks for the help. Found a ZF parts place, Eriksson Industries out of Connecticut. The person I spoke with priced me a new one, then offered to sell me a used one for a little less than half the price of new. Super nice guy, followed up with a return call later the same day.
