I bought a couple from a guy, brand new $100 each for 245/40/18, I have had them around 18 months and my general opinion is that they don't have enough traction in the dry and horrible traction in the wet. I think it is why I had an accident on 12/25/08. Any thoughts?

I currently have them on my Evo and have to agree. The dry traction is ok at best but horrible in the rain.

Poor tires as they may be, you really can't blame the tires for that kind of accident. Personally, I've never tried them.

Yes and no. I had a set of Michelin MXV4s on my e38 when I bought it, and the car was almost unsafe in the rain, it was scary to drive. So tires can play a huge role in adverse weather driving and can cause accidents. However; having crappy tires must be taken into account by the driver; so I agree that ultimately the tires aren't to blame even if they suck.
