Any help/suggestions/tips would be appreciated.
Few months ago I purchased four 18" SSR Comp wheels. The 2 front wheels (18x8.5 42et) were purchased new from Tirerack. The 2 rear (18x9.5 35et) were purchased used from a forum member here. Both pairs came with their own respective bolts. The owner of the rears assured me they were 100% correct fitment for BMW applications. I ran this setup for a few months until I recently decided to swap to my winter setup.
My winter setup is oem 17x8 alloys (style 103s) wrapped in Blizzaks. The first thing I noticed when installing my winter setup is that the rear bolts took much longer to tighten... Keep in mind I am now using the OEM bolts. Didn't think much of it and gave it a few more winds. I then began driving and within the first week I noticed something didn't feel right. The back end didn't feel stable so I checked the air in all 4 tires but none had any leaks. But I knew I wasn't imagining things as the car behind me pulled up next to me saying that my rear wheels seemed "wobbly". Luckily at this point I wasn't far from home so I drove home slowly and checked the rear wheels. Sure enough the rear bolts were VERY loose. After one good push with the socket wrench, I was able to loosen them with my hands! Being very concerned, I took off both rear wheels and reinstalled them. Drove for a few more days and SAME results. Needless to say I'm very concerned and won't be driving any more until I know what the heck is going on.
Could it be the 2 SSR bolts "dethreaded" the threads inside the hub? Why is it that my SSR wheels never came loose but my oem alloys won't stay tight - only difference being the bolts? And keep in mind when I was running my oem bolts before my SSR wheels I never had issues then.
Appreciate ANY help one can offer. I'm very nervous to drive my Z until I clear this up.
