Misc.
The lips are 2" wide at all four corners

Here's a picture showing how the lips from a 17x9 and a 17x8.5 are the same

Gunmetal center:

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k29/adstock40/Fikse%20FM10/DSC_0696.jpg

Some of the paint chipped off around the center caps from removing them because the powdercoating made the inner diameter a little bit smaller on the center section of the wheel. Here's a picture of the worst one

Does anyone know (roughly) how much it would cost to have these repaired? Love the rims..

Your best bet is to buy a new barrel, which is $250. The very minor bend in the one lip never effected the ride quality and doesn't need to be repaired.

Where would one buy a barrel?? I thought fikse was out of business...

Anyways, free bump. BTW, how did you go about polishing the lips?? I would like to do mine.

Forgeline has taken over for Fikse repairs so I believe you should be able to get parts from them but I've also heard that Jongbloed Racing Wheels and thatcher might be able to get parts too.

I spent about 24 hours polishing all four lips last winter. I started with a very low grit because I there was some pitting and a few deep scratches I wanted to get out but I eventually moved my way up to 800, to 1200, a wet sand 1200, and finally to a wet sand 1600. I could have went to a 2000 grit but I couldn't find it at my local hardware store and I already had all the other sandpaper at home, so I didn't bother. After that, I used some metal polish that I applied with a Mother's powerball which I regret doing because it scratched my lips a little and then went through with a little drill attachment polishing wheel with polishing compound which really made them shine. If you don't already have some, get some Wheel Wax. From what I've heard, it's by far the best wheel wax out there and will help protect the lips after spending hours upon hours on them. They looked wayyyyy better after the polish than they do in the pictures because they're all pretty dirty right now and just need to be cleaned up a little.

I've decided to keep these. They're too nice of wheels to sell for so little $$$

I'm planning on fixing them and setting them up as a square 17x9 setup.

Thanks :)
