This is my daily driver - 90% highway travel.

Summer tires - GA climate

Currently have michelin pilot sports (second set)

17" stock DSII

I figure the technology has caught up to these tires by now, so I should be able to find something similar in performance/comfort/longevity for nearly 1/2 the price.

Considering:

Yokohama S.Drive
Bridgestone Re760
Dunlop Star Specs

ideas?

I more focused on comfort and noise since this is a daily now.

RE760 gets my vote, I had the RE730 on a 328 a while back and they did the job.

star specs are not a true daily driver tire. the OP will not get the longevity he is looking for.

I have S-drives on the rear and like them.

Friend of mine has star specs on a daily driven car and complains about how loud they are, so keep that in mind. Whatever you do, don't buy Nitto NT450's, previous owner put them on my M3 right before I bought it and they are miserable. Mediocre at best performance in the dry and provide little to no traction in the wet, they are fun in a wet empty parking lot though.
