you need getrag 260/5. can be found in manual m20 e34's and manual m20 e30's.

OH and if you had clicked on the FAQ at the top of the board, you would have found it and saved yourself time from making this thread.

i have a 90 525 5 speed. The e34 is the best platform to swap of all bmw's . Every single bmw engine family was fited into the e34. Early cars had the m20 or m30. Then they came with the all the more modern engines. So almost any thing will fit, even the e32 v12.

What i should have asked is.

what engines bolt up to my stock 5 speed or what all can be swaped into an e34.

i want all the wild combo you guys can come up with. so postem up

So lets get this started like this.

m20 getreg 260 anything else?

see what i mean . i want to know what all the possible tranny combo are, sorted by engine. I am going see what combo works best for my plans for the car
Well what are your plans? Are you wanting to bolt a getreg 260 to a v12 or v8 or what exactly are you trying to do? Or are you trying to do something that isn't really the best option but will work? A getreg 260/5 would bolt up to an m50 instead of a zf, but why? You should just get a dog leg close ratio box IMO :evil2

with your 5 speed M20 E34 your choices are limited (if you want to keep the stock tranny) M50 with some adjustments but it would likely be easier to find a whole M50 5 speed car for that matter (and cheaper too)

M50 / 260 combo mate but at an odd angle which requires custom tranny mounts and other frustrations.
