I am sure this question has been asked before but I was unable to find the thread. Anyone know how the 2010 TPM systems works on a 335Xi?

Also, if I install non Run Flats, will using tire sealant when I get a flat mess up the TPM system?

Thanks,

Rich

There is a sensor built into each wheel which broadcasts to a module in the trunk. And yes, the sealant could very well mess up the sensor, I wouldn't suggest putting any kind of fix a flat or sealant in a tire with TPM sensors.

Thanks. I am going to be purchasing 17" rims and tires for the snow months. Do I need to take into account any special considerations as far as TPM? ie Do i need to buy sensors for the new rims or can I run them without sensors?

You can either switch over the sensors in the original tires (though the cost is high on this) or you can buy new sensors. New sensors are much higher in price on the 2010s (about $80 each from Tire Rack) so you may find that prohibitive. Yes, you can drive without sensors but you will have the little light on indicating that you have low tire pressure all the time.

Cool, thanks. I don't mind the light during winter months. Anyone have suggestions on quality snow tires for the mountains and then back down on dry land for the 3 months a year I will be using them? More concerned about Snow traction for when I get in the mountains but since I will be leaving them on the car, they'll need to be decent tires for wet/dry conditions.
