Just what makes this picture...the metric wheels? the 633CSi's color?
or perhaps it's actually the Mi, adding just the proper sense of the faster speeds possible?

I think it's the fact that it's a new, clean, stock, E24 with no rust. It hasn't been molested by owners with no taste and has not been bitten by the rust bug just yet. Not to mention, at the time that photo was taken, the car was probably only weeks, possibly even days old if that is original BMW literature photography (which is what it looks like).

M1
Although the sunset look that the paint happens to have with just the right light and editing almost makes it look acceptable.

See EuroShark? this thread is your everlasting reminder that you've a paint job to accomplish...Even though this Bronzit like color is suitable it is your own qualms and fear of diaper duty may yet prevail? ....and although only you and I could tell the difference between the 635 model and the 633CSi that this car actually is.. (steering wheel is one clue) you still can and likely will care for your 'poopy' Sixer just like she is?
Not actually a factory photo, it is from a club meet where the M1 was there for photo opportunities, ten years ago.
Cheers!

nothing makes the picture. the M1 is photoshopped in.

I was thinking that, but decided to let it go.

The rear tire of the M1 definitely looks suspect.
Certain lighting conditions help any car look better, but the color must be pretty bad for it to take just the right lighting to make the car look acceptable.
I may have an Alpinweiss car, but at least it's not Bronzit or Baby Poop, I tell myself...

nothing makes the picture. the M1 is photoshopped in. Finally, someone who can actually 'see' beyond the tiny common area in the photo which both vehicles share (front corners)

By underlapping the inserted M1 shot there the artist tricks the mind (almost subconsciously, but irresistabley nonetheless with a common technique) into thinking (seeing) something that actually isn't there, an event that never did take place... at least not on that track, upon that background on that particular day in History.
Good observation... jmitro!
PS: The nagging question ultimately becomes "Can we actually trust in Anything visual anymore, as Seeing did used to be Believing" Although this trickery and the adept advertising folk that photo-shop our perceived world away, bit by bit with delight (to be the fair) leaves little on the menu of life that these 'artists' haven't changed somehow... for some professed professional reasons I suppose but ever increasing demand for the virtual played a large part in my thinking when I retired last year from ' Show Business'...I do hate to admit...@!!
Actually and IMO the genuine moments (that are rarely noticed anymore or lauded in the media) just happen to have need for the proof positive...let's present say... an undoctored photograph for instance...Right? Even the experts can't always tell if a photo is original or not...especially since negatives are jus as easy to produce these days and the film positives we see everyday on billboards.
Soon with no rules...even our Churches will likely be eventually presenting an image of the real 'God' to us both literally in image form prominently within our places of worship... as to how reality functions when it comes to proof of 'the Omnipotent One'.. I see that if God really does exists he's likely to take care of me...if not then oh well?.....I certainly don't need an image of him in holographic color to remind me of his authority or existence for that matter his love for all of us, now do I?
It's sad (and a shame) that our Sixers, good as they are... are not to receive the same recognition (value or $$ wise) to keep up and move along with this growing phenomena... 'where less is actually sold as more' (Size of a candy bar for instance)...eventually we buy into it just as easily...or, Hey, you can always just say you hadn't realized or didn't know?
