View Full Version : Blizzak or Winterforce?
Any significant difference between the brands?
I only intend on using them for 1 winter and about 6K miles.

Winterforces are only good in the snow. They lack the modern rubber compound of better, name brand winter tires which is key for ice performance in a studless tire. TireRack tested the WinterForces with studs on ice and found them worse than modern studless tires. I assume you won't be using studs as they illegal in Illinois so the performance wil be even worse yet.
If you want inexpensive winter tires I'd go with the General Altimax Arctic. Or, find a set on Craigslist with a year's worth of rubber left.
Thanks for the reply.
No luck on Craigslist.
Just saw there's a whole section in tirerack that compares stuff, so I guess I'll check that out.

I've had Wintersport M3's on my car for a few seasons and have been supremely happy in the dry/wet/snow.

WinterSPORT and WinterFORCE are two completely different tires. Wintersport are a Dunlop snow...and a very good one at that. Winterforce are a mid to low end firestone snow.
