I was driving in San Jose for awhile tonight for a good 30 minutes or so w/ my low beams on.

Stopped for gas, after fillup, started the car, turned on the low beams and got the LBF!

I bought the kit from Umnitza back in June or so and haven't gotten a LBF till tonight. Anyone else with CATZ experience the same issue?

My coworker who got his at the same time w/ me got his shortly after getting the kit.

Hopefully it will just go away, but it just doesn't make sense how it has been fine since I bought it and for it to suddenly just come on tonight.

And it was fine right before I got gas!

Maybe you hit a big bump on the way there and knocked your ground wire slightly off?

Might want to check all your wiring and make sure that the ballasts/ignitors are securely positioned...

Just check your fuses (#10 and 11 I believe). Thats what happened to me.

Checked the fuses...they look alright...and the lights work fine.

Kreit2 where is this ground wire you speak of? I just remember wires from the ballast to ignitor and ignitor to the back of the housing.

Hmm, maybe...but I had the lights on driving into the gas station and the only bump I would hit would be driving onto the ramp into the station...doubtful...but I'll check to see if the ballasts are in place.

I have same kit and have'nt had the LBF yet, but on hard bumps I can see the light pattern move, as if the headlight was loose, but after checking it is definitely in there tight.

Has anyone else had the lights jump a bit on hard bumps?

The ground is the wire that was connected to a good chasis ground near the ballast or igniter in the engine compartment i can't recall which one at the moment

Umnitza is coming out with an inexpensive fix for LBF... hopefully it will happen soon because i want to buy one!

RLM, I haven't experienced the lights jumping on hard bumps =/

I've already contacted Umnitza about this and he is coming w/ the resistor pack approach.

While that is appreciated, I'd like to find out what happened as I had this kit for 4 months or so and used it extensively and never had issue w/ this.

I'm using the PnP as well. Anyone remember where the ground is?

Also, I read somewhere on the forum that there is potential for once the LBF to be thrown once it may be cached in the ECUs memory? Anyone know if that is true? They went to the dealer to reset the ECU and then it went away afterwards.

The E36's computer is real finnicky when it comes to the LBF... it could just be that over the 4 months... the computer finally discovered there was not enough resistance in the wiring/components and tripped the LBF.

The resistor pack is the definite fix for it...

He person who spoke of the loose housing... check to make sure all the mounting points of the ZKW are tight. There are 4 screws that hold it on and the bottom 2 especially need to fit tight.

OK guys here we go.
HINZM3 emailed me his fix. So far, he says that the LBF has not returned.

Check Control Module

The detailed explanation is the resistance at connector X10075 Pin 12 and Pin 13 was not working properly.

It seems that once that is detected, the control module will not get reset.

We ordered the Resistor Pack about 8 weeks ago, but for some reason everyone and their grandmother did too, so we're on the back burner waiting for it to come in so we can fix it for our customers.

However, it may very well be that the control module on some of your cars is bad.

Kreit2 - your fingers look stuck together (in your sig), I suggest some physical therapy to help you with the affliction;) :D:D
