i really like this jeep...its no 7 but its not bad, its my first american vehicle and i can say its nice to drive, its a nice change from the lowered car scene....and i dont have to park super far away like i do in the 7 becuase of my fear of dents, plus no snow and salt on the 7 :)

^size doesnt matter its all in the tread pattern. 28" bogger is gonna be louder than a 37" all terrain

yea, we usually get less than a foot and it doesnt last more than a few days at most. but this is gonna be the year i get my ass kicked and we're gonna get 2 feet of snow probably. but if theres 2 feet of snow, im not driving anywhere.

yea BFG all-terrains are good, will be pretty quiet. gonna need new wheels though. cherokees like that are 5x114.3 or 5x4.5. you might be able to get a 10.5 on a stock wheels but personally i'd go with a wider wheel. right now within the next four days you can get 4 brand new 31x10.5x15 BFG all terrains, 4 15x8.5 pro comp steel wheels and mounting and balancing for $761 shipped from 4wheelparts.com

just go to the tires, select the ones you want, add 4 to cart, then wheels, select the ones you want in 5x4.5 in 15" procomp steel black wheels, should be 55.60 something with a line through the price in 15x8.5, two backspacing choices and add them to cart. then when viewing the cart you can add the mount and balance for 49.95

1 foot of snow! Thats it. Wow. We have at least a foot of snow on the ground all winter in the snow belt. I think it is funny to watch all the people who live south of here in the winter when they get a dusting of snow. They practically close down entire towns and declare states of emergency.
+1 one on the lift kit. About 1/4 of all Jeeps where I live have them and it makes them look great. I still want to put one on my Oldsmobile, it all ready has 5 inches of wheel gap why not make it look good with wheel gap.

yea, northern DE is in this like bermuda triangle when it comes to snow. it comes straight for us every year but it like magically forks around us and we barely get any. we had a decent winter a couple years ago but the last BIG snow we had was like back in the blizzard of '96.

What year is it? must be 97> year model. Mine is a 97 grand cherokee limited with the 4.0 I6. Is yours the sport model, with the Turbo? I have 2 neighbors with your style and the sport package. One is red, like yours and one is black with roughly a 8" lift and some large tires + 4 light rack on top :)
Some must need mods that you need are some jeep stickers, depending on your tastes and how much of a red neck you are (and how proud of it) and if you are a member of the NRA.

i have $900 into it total including lift, tires and maintenance, water pump ect ...these things are sooooo cheap to mod...and plus i dont have to drive the 7 to work and worry about people coming in contact with it :D hahah

Nice Jeep! I had one as my winter work beater before I got my Discovery. Watch out, the mods become addictive. Here was mine before I sold it. I bought it for $1200 and many mods later sold it for $6000. Here is a pic before I went to 37s

The Grand cherokee is tons of fun to drive. Some of my experiences:
1) No rev limiter :D
2) 4 wheel drifting on to the interstate on ramp is so much fun with 4wd (the front slides perfectly with the back with my 50:50 weight distribution.
3) The I6 has 185 bhp, which does crap when trying to pass people at high speeds
4) Revving the I6 in park makes the body roll:redspot
5) The suspension on a jeep can not take heavy tongue weights (like a large power boat I tried once and bottomed out the travel)
6) My jeep is not as good on packed snow as my olds with real snow tires since the jeep has all seasons, but is better at starting on slippery intersections.
7) 0-60 on mine is about 10 sec, as I raced my olds before which is a solid 9 sec car and lost badly.
8) Drag racing with a utility trailer and a 4-wheeler in the back drops your 0-60 + rolling start down to 13 sec :buttrock
9) The exhaust note while following the jeep in a race is godly and is hard to beat:alright (even by the e38)
10) My mpg is about 16 average with little highway (mostly 40 mph roads)
11) You can go mudding in your front yard with it:rolleyes
12) Take the e38 on highway trips.

Fuel mileage, strangely was one of the reasons I bought another e38. I looked at many new cars smaller than the e38 and it was disappointing how bad of fuel mileage the new cars got. Also they did not have nearly the power or handling.

I got a good deal on y disco so the jeep had to go too. I agree the Discovery is night and day to the Cherokee but I still love them. Here is a pic of my Discovery I have since added rack lights, winch, more lift, and skids.
