just seen this posted yesterday...

EDIT- Listing deleted 'cause I bought them ;)
I assume they are manual seats.
Very hard to tell actual condition.. but I'm mildly interested in them, considering I have a black interior to replace my beige int.
Very tempting ...

I had these in my euro. They look great but they have flimsy frames that begin to twist when the welds break.

That is a great deal for Recaros with no rips or wear. Looks just like my manuals. Should clean up nicely too. Appears to still need the floor mounting tracks/hardware for the seats, but worth a look at least.

Dude - run to those seats. Now.
If you don't, I may ask you buy them anyway and I'll take them.

Those are identical to E21 S package recaros. They regularly sell for $500-$600 if super clean and not torn. They make mountig brackets to fit hundreds of different cars.

The logo on the headrest makes me think these came out of an E21 too. But that also means the seat covering would be vinyl, not leather. Proceed with caution.

I'm not so sure about that. If they're leather (and they do look it in the admittedly small pics) then they would be the E24 models. The E21 seats were only in vinyl so far as I know. What made you say they were the E21's?
Agreed on the going price for a really nice set of E21 Recaros. Never see really nice early E24 Recaros to know what the "going" price would be.
If closer I'd go check them out, too. Be reluctant to buy sight unseen though. They look nice, but that leather could be quite dry.
As for the Roundels on the seats, the E21's typically have them on the side of the seats, up by the shoulder. The leather ones in my 79 E24 have a single roundel on the top of the seat, under the headrest.

Oh right, I forgot that E24 shouldn't be vinyl. They do look vinyl to me. And believe me, the fact that the seller says they are leather means nothing. It boggles my mind how many people can't tell the difference.

True, and I question most everything sellers list until proven.
Still, to my eye they looked like the old leather ones. Someone in KS will have to go see.

I got 'em.
Saved them from some kid wanting to buy them and put 'em in an RX7 :rolleyes
anyway.. I do believe they are from an E21.
Got 'em home and they do not match up to my 633's manual comfort seat brackets :cry
BUT.. I should be able to fab some kinda bracket.. Layne, didn't you say there's somewhere to get a conversion bracket? :help
I'll post more about them later.. gotta run for now.. but they are safe in my garage now.
They are indeed leather.. I think.. dangit.. I'm gonna have to look REAL close again
They are not in "mint" condition, but still in very good condition.. I'm stoked about 'em even tho I dont have a matching set of brackets for 'em right now.

If they're leather, they're E24. But, they're also early E12/E24 and your car is later E28/E24. Many differences, and I don't know that seat mounts aren't among them. Anybody know?
There are adapter rails that goes between the recaros and the seat sliders in the car (sort of a C channel section). Can sometimes find them on eBay, but again I don't know if you'd still face a fitment issue in the later car.
Of course if you have to make adapters anyway, can probably kill two birds with one stone.

If I adapt them to the later E24 Comfort seat brackets, it should fit for sure then.. cuz those brackets bolt right up to my six... just dont bolt right up to the recaro's
I though about using flat aluminum stock to make adaptors with.. surely cant be that hard to do.. I gotta go in by 1" both by length and width.
The comfort bracket bolts at the seat at 18" wide and 12 1/2" long.. the recaro bolts up at 16" wide and 10 1/2" long.

So true. I was at the mall looking for some new sneakers to roam around in. The first store I walked into I could tell that every shoe I picked up was plastic made to look like leather. I mean every Nike, Addidas, Puma and Reebok and even a couple of Jordans. At my third store I finally asked the sales person, "Does Nike even make a shoe out of leather any more?". He said the shoe I had in my hand was leather so I pushed my finger into it to see if I could get a surface wrinkle with no luck. I told him they weren't leather and he grimaced and said "well, they are synthetic leather". I told him there was a big difference and eventually went with a pair of all leather Jordans.

Try contacting Dave at Aardvark Racing, www.2002parts.com He has a lot of Recaro stuff and may have the brackets you need.

WooHOO!!
Well I got the itch so bad to see if I could mount these Recaros in and succeeded to make my own adaptor brackets today...

Granted, I'll take it all apart again and paint the brackets black so they blend in better.. but, it works like a charm!
These are freaking COMFEY seats! WAYYYY better than the electric sport seats.
And I did confirm they are indeed leather covered.. what, exactly, they came out of.. I'm not sure.. but who cares! They found a new home!!
I'll put together a DIY later on sometime. All parts I got at Lowe's to do it.. most expensive parts were the universal bracket stock.. but all in all.. I think it only cost me around $30 in materials and about 30 minutes of actual time involved to get them to mount on my donor 633 Comfort manual seat rails.
They are fully functional.. slide back and forth.. tilt and lift.
I'M STOKED! :D

Whoa nice! The white stitching is unusual. I bet those would bring $800 easy on ebay. You just don't see leather ones. 2002 owners would go nuts for them.

The white stitching is, I believe, the tell tale sign of them being leather.. who knows?
Also, I noticed the rotating knob is different than other recaro models.
Anyway.. my butt and back give these seats an A++++ for comfort.. my eyeballs as well.. cant wait to install all the black interior parts to see the full effect.

The miles I put in the Recaro's in Anita's Alpina B10 BiTurbo was the most comfortable I could imagine.
I'm glad you got 'em! Now let's talk about how you're going to ship them to me. :devillook

Sweet! I think the Recaro seats are much more snug fitting than the factory sport seats. The Recaro design really holds your butt and torso in place when driving spirited. Absolutely no wiggle room when compared to the sports seats fit and feel.

Looks exactly like the Recaro's in my 1984 M635, same black leather, same white stitching (mine's not so white anymore), but indeed the turning knob for the back recline is different. A nice acquisition in any case! Looks good!

Thanks dudes.
After driving her around a bit with the one in, it feels like a totally different car.. the seat seems to "connect" you to the car more, if that makes any sense.
I'm very glad I didnt have to butcher/modify either the Seats or the Manual Seat Rails to get them to work. The brackets I made is totally removable if for some reason later down the road they need removed and resold (fat chance! lol)
as for the Recaro OEM brackets.. I think they are these:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v78/SeekerG/Recaroadaptors.jpg
Saw them on an ebay listing (being sold with a set of Recaro seats).. not sure if they are for E24 rails or not.. but sure they all look similar to that.. be it for E24,E30,E21.. etc..
makes sense.. they give a bit of lift and streamline the transition for the wider rails below.
