Yesterday I was in JackEatsEmoKids's thread about wanting to paint his wheels and I got this idea. What if you painted different surfaces of the spokes different colors? I got the idea from somewhere, but I don't remember where, and I haven't seen it more than once or twice.

I spent way too much effort shopping his picture so everybody can see what I'm talking about. I went with a pretty simple color scheme - black on the front of the spokes and color-matched on the sides.

What do you think? And are there any particular wheels/cars/colors or anything that you think would pull this off well?

I think it looks pretty decent on that car; I don't know how well other color combos would pull it off.

I think it looks pretty decent on that car; I don't know how well other color combos would pull it off.I'm thinking about getting Style 42's for my car and doing the same thing, but I'd polish the sides instead of painting them blue. I have a black E36. Or maybe I'd paint those parts black and polish the front parts...

I wish I could shop it right now, but I'm at work. No photoshop on this computer...

Needs a better shot...I like the idea!I shopped a shop to get that. Somebody had color-matched the wheel centers, lowered the car, and given the picture a ton of contrast. I just took that and put the black parts on the wheels.

that looks awesome, I wouldn't do it if its not color matched

I've seen it done, with the spokes painted the color of the car on the sides, then the front face of the whole wheel is black. Definitely better on dark colors...maybe even subtle additions like a dark red (like when someone paints the calipers red)

I've seen this done on wheels like Carline CM6s and Vette Blades, it can look fantastic when done properly.

Id do it opposite, color match the faces and do the backs black to give it contrast(maybe? :dunno ) feel like that would look better.

Yeah, I've actually wanted to do this ever since the modding in xbox racing games had it available, lol. Might just have to try it out with some colored vinyl on my K1s and see what it looks like in real life.
