Tire shop said this tire is bad on the inside because the previous owner ran on it flat. All it is is small narrow path right down the center of the tire on the inside that was rubbed, but it is barely rubbed down. Sidewalls are good. The worn path is in the middle where there is no ribs in the tire. These tires are pretty much new. Is the tire shop trying to screw me?

hmm. maybe - even if the tire did get run flat, there couldn't have been anything to be THAT abrasive on the inside of the tire. plus, the outer rim would contact the ground before the center of your tire, just look at the rim in that picture. the center would only touch something if there were no edges of the rims, and THEN you'd have a much bigger problem on your hands!

Good point. It might have worn from rubbing the wheel wells are hitting pot holes over time. They are 19x8 1/2 M3 wheels on a 01 330ci. I'm thinking the tire may still be good though.

Running a tire flat creates a lot of heat in the tire and can do that to the tire.

Jim,
Would you consider that tire no good. There is a little sticker in its path and it didn't even rub it off.
Thanks

It would be hard for me to say for sure without having the tire here and looking at it. The picture is only so good. There is no way to say how the tier was abused before you got them.
