Under load at (1200-1400RPM) going 30-40MPH I hear an occasional rumble/rattle. It sounds like either the transmission (a loose mount?) or exhaust vibration. Any insight into this problem. Thanks.

Center shaft bearing or...more likely the rubber guibo joint. Or both.
Id certainly replace them as a combo, if one is bad.

A loose exhaust would make noise over bumps and curbs. If you feel like getting dirty you could drive a side onto a curb for more room - get under the car and wiggle the exhaust. Bearings do a lot of grumbling when failing.

I think this is the first BMW I have ever owned where I didn't have to change the exhaust O brackets. They are usually knackered at this age.

I think I may be in need of a CSB and a Guibo joint!!! Arggggghhhhhhhhhh
