In North America, brake fluid is not monitored by the car. The manual simply states you should change it every two years. I suspect that is the same in Europe.

Brake fluid flushes are not mandatory to the operation of the car. Failing to change your brake fluid regularly only results in possible corrosion of the brake lines when the car gets old. Also, impurities that may be in the brake fluid may cause the brake fluid to heat up. But your brakes should still work.

thanks a lot. that was quite hepful

but still just try: before you start the engine and while it shows how many miles/km are to go till next service/insp, try to press the button next to the display / the one that you can adjust the timer with/
might have be a bit different on us/ca spec. i do have a cockpit chrono pack = tacho and rev counter next to it in a view direct above the st.wheel
thanks again a lot

That display should be the reset the oil change counter. That should counter alternate between oil service/inspection 1/oil service/inspection 2, then start again.

oil service includes minor things like inspecting the wiper blades, testing the battery, replacing the interior cabin filter. The interior cabin filter is (in my opinion) expensive. Most of those things you can do yourself but a little preventative maintenance should have your car trouble free. I might suggest an additional oil change inbetween as it is a rather long haul between the service intervals.

To reset the service interval indicator, try this (borrowed from one of the MINI forums):

1. Put key in ignition switch.

2. Press the reset button for the trip distance recorder while turning the ignition key to position 1 and continue holding till the word tESt appearsin the display.

3. Release and Press and hold the button again and A FLASHING "rSt" (reset) will appear in the window. WHILE IT IS FLASHING PRESS THE BUTTON AGAIN AND IT WILL READOUT 15500 MILES

In my case (being in Canada), my care showed 24000Kms.

You can find this process in the user manual or on the several websites. Just go through them.
