That's right, it's time once again for the famous Fremont Fall Swap Meet. I'm planning on going up after church on Sunday to scavenge around for Corvair, BBF, and SBF parts. I know this is hardly BMW-Board-Worthy, but if anybody else wants to tag along, let me know.

sheesh.......

(insert snobby voice here)
“Kensington, let the minions have their swap meet.”

Sounds…….interesting? What sorts of novelties would one find at a swap meet. Never been before……

I'll likely be in KC, but we do need to arrange a group-trip to olstens to find me a motor! :D:D

for adam and justin, this could be an excellent source of parts.

I'm up for both trips as of this point. Who knows maybe on the olsten trip I can find some gears for cheap untill I can find a good LSD or more like afford a good LSD.

Swap Meet: Midwestern rednecks get together and sell parts out of the back of their pickups and trailers. Oftentimes you can find good deals on old domestic hardware (drivetrains, wheels, project cars, trim, pretty much anything). Pretty rare to find any of that 'furrin junk', though.

I can state with relative certainty that there isn't anything useful for you guys in the yard at Olsten's. If there are any motors or LSDs, they've been pulled and put inside. A quick phone call or e-mail would be the best way.

Now a trip to the north U-Pull-It in Omaha might be a different story....

Oh, and I'll be leaving ASAP after church... probably 12:30.

U-Pull-its sucks. I was there when I was 16 to get a hood for my Nova and they were jackasses to me and my buddies, then on the phone they told me $50 for the hood, when I got there they charged me $75!!! GRRRRRRR

Well, Olsten's might have gotten some stuff in recently... in the 20+ times I've been out there over the years, I've only ever seen a small handful of totally trashed and stripped BMWs. Nothing that would have much on it, but it'd be cool if that has changed!

Sadly, my VW buddy doesn't work there anymore, but my truck still knows the way, and it's had inline-6 hauling experience lately :)

My couple experiences with U-pull-it were generally ok, but yeah, they were jerks. I still got a good deal, though. :)

Adam, if you're game we'll leave at 12:30-12:45 from the Faith Bible Church parking lot. 84th street, between Pine Lake and Old Cheney. We'll probably pack into the Celica since I'm reasonably certain that I won't be shopping for an engine.

oh, but I love hauling engines!

This is Armen - I bought a Carbureator, and got a line on a manifold for the truck. So, not a wasted trip.

Dark Helmet

what kind of carb did you buy???

Mr Project
09-30-2003, 09:07 AM
Holley 650. Kinda wanted vacuum secondaries and an electric choke, but the price was right on this DP unit. If I get tired of messing with it, I'm resonably sure I can turn it around without losing anything. Plus, it's polished for extra bling! :D

dude..... I thought you wanted gas mileage for the truck????? (or is that for the RX-7???)

Mr Project
09-30-2003, 06:10 PM
Truck. Needed something that would feed an FE, man, plus Dad is gung-ho to make it a 390, so I wanted to be able to feed that when the time comes without having to trade up.

The RX-7 is going to sit for a while as I look, wait, and think about the wisdom of the V8 project when I still need to finish a Corvair...

dude, a Carter AFB 625cfm would do that with EASE!!!!! AND you don't have to tune it. aaron swears by them.
