m3 vs. sl 55, mustang gt, supra, vw passat, lexus gs 400, and more...

For folks that are interested in some statistics on how m3s do vs. some cars out there, here are some of the cars i've raced since i got my 98 m3 2 months ago, mercedes sl55 on freeway kept up on his tail till the limiter hit at 145mph, dont have that problem no more thanks to dinan chip, mustang(s) to the point where i couldnt see them in the mirrow any more, supra (the boxy one) by a lot on the freeway, 12-15 cars, maybe more, vw passat i embarassed, lexus gs 400 with intake chip and exhaust, raced in 8th at a strip, beat him by 0.4 sec, bmw 325 is by 5 cars off the light, and kept pulling, there's been more, i wont even mention rice rockets....
current mods Benfer CAI, UUC TSE, dinan stage 2, H&R coilovers, and more... best time in 8th STOCK was 9.7 on a hot day...:buttrock

Kept up with a blown V8 with 493 HP? Hmmm, ok. I've driven the CL55 (same engine) and must say this claim doesn't make sense.:dunno

I raced a SL55 AMG, and there is no way i could keep up with him....no way. Unless you have F/I the SL55 will kill us (and even then it will be hard). When he floored it that car sounded more like an old muscle car than a luxury sports car.

I think the SL 55 would 0wn you, unless it was a grandma driver. That car is BRUTAL fast. Just check out the E55 vs 492 rwp Mustang video thread posted above!

well i dunno, the thing was ahead of me and he saw my headlights so he started accelerating, we were going from one freeway to another i was behind in his lane and he kept accelerating and so was i, at on ramp i was doing 120mph and he was just a bit ahead of me, as we were getting on the other freeway we kept going till i reached 145, thats when my limiter kicked in, and he kept going, i dunno, obviously he was going for it if he reached that speed... but maybe he didnt know how to drive...

ok if someone is accelerating and keeps going and u're going 145mph, dont u think thats considered racing, i dunno, if not then maybe he wasnt

your car performance is nowhere near SL55's performance, even though my car will be toasted by SL55. You think that he's not able to pass you but indeed he's able to, but he just did not want to. he's teasing you to go faster ...

Maybe it wasn't a SL55..could have been a SL500. Those things arent as fast. Still 302 hp ro so. Trust me if it was a SL55 it would probaly pass you up like you were standing still. :b_blue:
