I've been noticing more and more young guns on the forums. What members here are under 21? (Besides M633).

The correct answer is...The Law. Isn't the drinking age 21 in all 50 states now?

Brad,

I didn't know you were that young. How did you get such a sweet Euro at 16? You still trying to sell it? Did you tackle your buffalo hide yet? I highly recommend working on them. You will love the results. I did.

I was just kidding around.....

i go to college at kansas university, and for the most part, the cops don't give a damn about underage drinkers, just as long as you aren't drinking and driving.

only on paper Layne.

I'll be turning 23 in February, got Wolfie when i was 19. I had an E23 when i started driving until I sold it a few months before getting Wolfie.

I'm with cleeves on the subject though. When you're 18, the government thinks you're an adult. you can buy smokes (which can kill you), you can buy porn (which can kill you or at least get you into trouble with your girlfriend/wife...cause you can get married now), and you can go into the military (also a life threatening decision). Why can't you buy a beer?

im really impressed with the young guns in here! i seriously though i was one of the few. being that 6s are a "mans car" and only "men" drive and work on them. good stuff haha

I'm 20, bought my 6 when I was 17. Fortunately I live in Canada and you only have to be 19 to be able to drink.

Geez, I am old enough to be all of your fashia...Why are all the young guns into the older E24s? Most of you were not around when these cars were ruling the roads.

probably the same reason's you are. They're affordable, good looking, fun to drive/work on. I've had 3 of them, and I am 23.

Ive always thought they were really good looking cars, but never really wanted one especially badly. I bought mine pretty much because it was such a good deal I would have been stupid not to, and have really enjoyed owning the car. That being said, I'm thinking of moving into something a little more sporty than the 6.

I think it is great that the younger people dig these cars as much as I do.
Turned 48 this week and still love these classics.

My Niece, age 21 ,part time model and college student drives a 1985 blue
635CSi. Her friends think she has the coolest ride of all. Guys are impressed and to her, "that is sooooo cool"

Anyway, I think these cars appeal to all ages. They just don't go out of style.
I will always be driving one of these till I can't see the road anymore.

By then, I will hire some hot 20 something to drive me around.
Probably not tell her that I over inflated the tires, and stiffened up
the suspension, and always want to take the bumpy roads.

Here, here! I'm with Jeff on this one.

Back on topic, I got my 1st E24 at 18, and my second at 22 (belated b-day present to myself :)).

these cars are just timeless and i just love how they look, drive, and how well they are built. this car still gets a lot of attention and i think it really shows that you're a person of good taste and has a respect for these REAL bmws.

its a much bigger commitment i think to own one of these and i think you get a lot more satisfaction out of owning one compared to say a newer 3 series which seems to be the "norm" for my age group.

the thrill of the drive gets better everytime i put some more work into it as mine is a slow restoration project. but all said, its been extremely reliable over the past years after i got all the kinks ironed out, and it hasn't missed a beat.

i don't think this car will ever die...at least with me around :)

I was 20 when I got my first BMW, a grey market e23. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for selling it. The paint was shot as well as the seats and the dash and the carpet and so forth and so on ha ha ha. But that turbo straight six was incredible! It also had factory recaro bucket seats, manual windows, BBS spoiler, and staggered 16" BBS weaves. If I still had it would def. swap the engine into a manual trans. e24.

And the e23 euro headlights would look great in a 6 series!

I'm 14 and am a car fanatic!!! I love helping my dad and working on cars. We have a 633, 320i and a 1975 2002! We are always busy changing the timing and oil and flushing systems... Sorry to be a forum stealer but just curious, who is going to the gig harbor drive in puget sound? If you are, we only have blue vintage bimmers and you will spot us!!

Here in the Netherlands, there is no drinking age. You can't buy it till you're 16 tough.
It's seen as the responsibility of the parents to make sure that kids don't drink to early. The interpretation of 'to early' varies....

Started drinking at 18 (when it was legal and VW bugs were cool)
Then at 20 (drinking wasn't legal), got my first glimpse of a 6er:eek:
Life took over and forgot about the 6er (married/career/house/kid)
Finally at 41, bought two 6ers :D:D
Now looking for M6ers :evil2

Wow, I'm 23 about to hit 24 and you guys are makin me feel old...

It's strange, I thought the e24 board was better because it had older members. Every other car board I've been to is flooded with tweeners who don't know what they're talkin and have their own ideas on style (big spoilers, never painted body kits, ugly rims, etc). I guess it's just the car that brings out the class in a person.

I bought my first 6 at 17. I'm 20 now and about to buy another one. As for the driving thrill, the car is amazing. Reliability, however, is not. Previous owner let things go a little too long and my college student budget has been struggling to get her back up to par.

BTW, +2 on pics of the 21 year old niece with a 6

i grew up with my 6er because my dad had it before i was born, i got my love for bmws from him i guess. Between me and my parents we have 5 bmws. I really fell in love with my dad's 633 in the begging of highschool and ive forcefully taken it over from him because its just been laying around due to lack of time and money.

its my favorite bmw of all time, im 18 now and emotionally attached to this car hahah

Lol i dont know what forums your on but i dont know any bimmerhead young or old that puts up with big useless wings and un painted body work. Thats for those ricer fags! Over here esp in this e24 section. We appreciate beauty and take nothing less. This timeless car (as previously stated) is shammed when put through that crap. we LOVE our 6ers!!! Falling apart or sanding tall.

I remember ONCE asking a question on an Accord forum. For days I waited for somebody to answer.... While waiting I noticed that the posts about 'ugly' mods were getting hits and comments left & right...

Another thing, just before I bought my 2003 325i, I went to the E46 section to ask a few questions on what to look for when buying one. People seemed to be a bit blunt there... "take it to a shop"... "get a low mileage car"... etc. I know the obvious but I was hoping to look for something like the "Before you buy" section here. I know I'm not describing everybody on that board, but I find that people here are much more knowledgeable...

Oh, and have you seen the E46 T-shirt? Crap compared to the E24 t-shirt designs.

I person's class is determined by his car. Even though were young, we understand the elegance and value of the 635. Friends and school call it ugly, I find it highly appealing (of course they have ricer shit like accords and whatever). A kid asked me for a race, with 4 cyl accord. He doesn't believe the 6 will smoke him (its unmodded mechanically, modded aesthetically). To me, the 6 oozes class and distinction, just like its shark nose. The 6 stands out from the rest of the crowd fo mustangs and civics/accords (my school is called carmax, due to the overwhelming amount of newer cars, all upper class benz/accords/american muscle (newer kind). I'd make do with a 6 :D

As pictured above here is a great example of the car being older than the driver.
Of all the 635 cars I have seen, the one above is the tightest, smoothest, cleanest 6 I have seen. The car has over 250K on the clock and
runs and drives like a new car. everything works on the car and I expect
it to last many more years. The owner (my Niece) loves the BMW and appreciates what a good car is all about. She takes exceptional care of the car and calls me about the littlest items to fix. All in all it has been the best
635 car that I have been around as for looks, maintenance and driveability.

Every time I see the car I smile knowing that BMW built a great car for a wonderful driver. :buttrock
