Got the Koni/Eibach setup from them with new bump stops. The very top of the Koni shaft has a washer and a nut. It looks like I re-use the factory strut mount on top and the factory washer, so is the correct order, from top down, as follows:

Koni nut

--

Factory strut mount

--

Factory washer

--

GC washer

Or am I missing something.

I also forgot if the arrow on the strut mount points towards the engine or towards the wheel. Been a while since I took them off :) Can't find any reference to it in the manual.

The arrow poionts to the front of the car.

Thank you.

Any advice on the order of parts on the strut assembly?

Its been a really long time since I disassembled the front struts that I can't remember. But using some reasoning the order you have listed up above sounds correct. Just because the GC piece *should* be the link between non factory to factory part.

here is the order from top to bottom:

koni nut, koni washer, strut hat, stock washer (the large one), gc washer, stock spacer, aluminum top hat, spring.

arrows on strut hats point to the front of the car. swap the strut hats if you want more negative camber. [EDIT: only applies to '96+ cars]

Looks like I will need a deep socket 22mm to get that Koni nut on. I don't have one so I guess I'll have to go and buy it.

yup. you need a deep thin 22mm socket. i believe the torque is somewhere around 48 ft/lbs. the strut shaft will spin while you try and tighten it, so here's a little hint. using a set of large vise grips or similar, clamp the large oem washer above the strut hat at the top of the strut shaft while you torque that nut. it will save you a lot of headache.

nice garage, by the way.

And how do I hold the Koni shaft steady while torquing that down?

i just put mine in a bench vise.

oops. maybe i misunderstood the question. i put the strut assembly in the bench vise, then vise gripped the large washer, which kept the shaft from turning.... while that washer is clamped, you can torque the nut successfully..

Only works on 96+, it does nothing on 95's.

Adam,

Any updates on how you like your GC setup?
