Withing the next 2 years I will be supercharging my 96 328i. I have been looking around for some s52 cams to put in right now, but i'm wondering if it is worth it. Will these cams be able to stay in when i supercharge or will I have to use the m52 cams?

Any input/advice?

I already have a 3.23 LSD in. I assume that gear ratio will be fine with the supercharger?

Anyone? Will s52 cams be ok if I supercharge my m52?

Its not cam duration that will be an issue it is compression. It all depends on how much boost, how much heat into the intake and what octane gas.
You will get a more informed answer in the F.I. section.
You really should not have any issues. I don't understand why you would go with an S52 set of cams when yours are just fine and you will get plenty of power.

Just remember this unless you go scroll you will have only linear boost meaning 1000 rpms 0 boost 2000rpms 1 psi 3000rpms 2 psi like that. I ran 5 psi max in my car with an aftercooler which returned well over 70 hp as I live in Florida and my intake temps without an aftercooler were out of site.

I would not go SC unless you have an intercooler or an aftercooler....

I want to know a little about this too?

But isnt it true that super chargers take years off your engine life?

Also if i was to supercharger shouldn't i change my internals?

NO NO NO never ever think that... the only time a supercharger will take years off of engine life is if the setup does not match the engine, i e stock internals with tons of boost and a shitty tune. With tons of boost forged internals is a must but you can get away with around 18 pounds if you have the car tuned very well and use higher octane fuel... i dont reccomend that though as it takes an insane tune to do it.

I know my cams will be just fine if i supercharge, but I wanted to put s52 cams in in the mean time before i supercharge... just wondering if it would be better to put the m52s back in?
