seat problem

i can move the seat of my 98 328i backwords and forwards. up and down..... but the back rest working lean either direction.

i can hear the motor turning so where do i need to look to fix this problem? i wasnt sure which motor it was or if something had come undone or what have you...

Gear in the seat motors trans mission. It can be replaced.

is there a way to just crank the seat back up without buying this part right now? ive got plenty of other things to spend money on the car besides that....
