After a long season of upgrading, breakage, and other non-car related delays, I finally managed to run some better numbers. I ran a 9.76@154.88mph in addition to several other 150+mph passes. The Bavarian Solutions head and cams really makes the car scream. It pulls like a freight train to 8400rpm. Unfortunately the timeslip for my 9.76 run didn't print but I got the main printout from the desk. There are plenty of pics and videos of the run.

I also got a chance to drive Multiplex's awesome turbo E30 to a 10.9@134mph before breaking the shift lever on another pass.

I look forward to seeing the video but here are my slips for now. I was super excited for a bit till I heard Donovan's record pass only minutes after I held the new record. At least I'm still the fastest in the US, even if it is only by .05mph :alright

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, those are killer times!!! And nice work in Jay's car too sir!

Question, how does Donovan get off the line so FREAKING fast? Is it the weight advantage that he has over you?

Grats mike - that final pass was looking to be all or nothing balls out, too bad the diff didn't think so too!

Did you get that swapped and home ok?

I have a bunch of pics I just posted in the showroom section

When I heard Donovan ran a 9.2 I turned up the boost controller another 5 psi and left on the 2step hard. The diff output flange fractured in the middle of the splines this time. I was happy I just had to swap the output shaft instead of the diff to get home. I threw the seats back in at the shop and took out the tools and crap. Then I drove it to the store to buy some victory beers. The cooling system is stout and has zero pressurization on the track or street.

congrats Mike!!! those victory beers are well deserved. You've earned them.

Also glad to see that new head/cam package worked out for you.......your making HUGE power.

whats your cars weight?

also, I really wish you had made it to MIR yesterday. How cool would it have been to have you and Donovan battling it out for the record back to back on the same track!

Mike,
I think that's the best part of this whole story. That you actually drive your car to and from the track. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you pull in.
Who else has a 9 second car that they drive to/from the track? I don't honestly know. Maybe a fair number do?.. impressive none the less.
p.s. have you had any sleep since Thursday yet?

Car weighed 3200 that day. Full weight is 3325. I was very happy to trap 155 with the damaged compressor wheel.

Drivers aren't experienced with drag racing, soft launch and bad gearing for the strip. Kinda like what a drag car would look like at the Ring!

Its pretty common these days but yes still impressive. There are several evos, rx7s(myself included) plenty of mustangs some even in the 8s that can drive to a local track. Plus in Mikes situation it really helps when you live 20 mins away lol.

That was the best drag racing video I've ever seen, all of those cars were pretty respectable. Although some drivers were a little rusty.
