:helpI was hoping that someone has encountered the same codes I have so Maybe I can figure out what all is going on. The codes it is throwing are; p0313, p1345, and p0500. When I paid to get the diagnostic testing, the guys said that cylinders 1-5 were misfiring, what would cause that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Most likely its your ingition coils or spark plugs...I would start looking there first.
Does the car turn on? Does it die if you dont apply the throttle?

What car is this on?
You are posting it in the E39 section, have a few 2002, 740's and a M3.

Telling us the car model and year would help a lot... Could be anything from a pre-cat O2 to a thingamajig.

The mechanic that read the code should have told you what was actually wrong with the car...
their job is to interpret the codes not spew what the machine says...
at least that's my opinion...

It would be difficult to impossible for the mechanic to tell what exactly is causing those particular codes to come up without further testing of the components involved, which to PO might not have wanted to pay for.
Now he has to do the testing and figure it out, if he can.

If he has all these Bimmers, then he shouldn't worry about a few codes and let the MECHANIC do the work instead of being "scared".

I had an entire bank misfiring and the 02 wires were cut someone so the elements were not heating up correctly. Once warm it was fine but cold was terrrriibblle.
more details and we can problem solve more efficiently.

Sorry, it is a 2001 530i
My mechanic is telling me it is the fuel filter, but i dissagree. We replaced it and it runs better, but the problem presists and the check engine light is back on

OK, the codes translate to:
P1345 -- Misfire cylinder 2 with fuel cutoff
P0313 -- not on any list I've found: perhaps this was a P1313 "A" camshaft position plausibility?
P0500 -- vehicle speed sensor malfunction
Here's the list I usually consult: http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/bmw/
Not sure what any of this means, however. Were there any symptoms aside from the codes?
