As our E34's climb the totem pole of maturity our seals and vision become affected... In other words your windshield gets affected from the weather, road debris, animals, plants, etc. So from all of this the windshield is bound to crack somewhere sooner or later.... post your cracks guys/gals and not the 1 where the sun don't shine!

Windshield had huge crack when I bought it. Replaced windshield, was changing wiper blades and THWACK! busted windshield again. Replaced windshield again, now it's all good.
Here's a pic from the windshield wiper arm

No cracks here. Annual inspections mean that all cracks have to be fixed.
However I can cut my cat off legally!

I had a good windshield I was going to take off a parts car for practice, and MikeDay needed a good windshield. Then my buddy decided he needed wiper blades for his e32 and removed them, breaking the glass. I was pissed.

I was gonna post a pic but mine is exactly identical to yours. I'm too cheap to fix it and am ignoring until something compels me to fix it. How much does it cost for a replacement btw?
I had a new WS installed about six minths ago.. its already horribly sand blasted again..

How on earth does a windshield get broken from wiper blade replacement?

How on earth does a windshield get broken from wiper blade replacement?
1. remove old blade
2. accidentally let spring loaded arm snap against the windshield (acts just like those safety glass breakers on TV)
3. curse and cry

pretty positive my windshield is original.

First, I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who HAS BUSTED THE WINDSHIELD while changing blades....but it happens like this. Old blade off, metal wiper arm slips out of your hand......CRACK:(..OH SHYT!!!:mad...$300 later all is well:redspot

Note to those reading this thread: Always put a towel under the wiper arms when you're changing wiper blades on any car, or run the risk of a cracked windshield too. :D

Where was your sage advice 2 years ago when I did it?;)

that's good advice, that would surely spoil your day. Nothing worse than trying to fix something small and break something big.

loaded ten 2 X 4's in my civic wagon recently (The thing is like a truck).
The last one I pushed in ever so slightly farther than I should have and cracked the windshield from the inside out!

How on earth does a windshield get broken from wiper blade replacement?
Easy- raise the arm and take blade off and the arm snaps back and cracks the windshiled. Advance had to replace my windshield for that reason. New BMW windshield.

Did the wiper arm crack on my 89. Let the car sit in the heat of the high school parking lot and it had spread straight up about 10 inches. Got on the highway (100+) with the air on and it went all the way to the top. Told State Farm it was dump truck falloff, they sent people to do it while I was in school the next day.

try safelite. You'll get a new one with no pitting.
Probably cheaper than you think. It's wort a call.

This happened on the way to drop off my Kopi wheels to the buyer from the E28 forum who lives in Orlando. I actually got out of the Touring, deciding instead to take the Odyssey because I was going to bring the kids with me and they can't seem to travel these days without the tv's in the car. Anyway, at about 65 mph a crane (the bird) flies right in front of the car and "bam" that's all she wrote! Glad it was the Honda because I only carry liability on the Touring and she's already got her fair of "bumps and bruises."
