This is my first post. I'll appreciate any help. Door lock problem in my 1996 318I 4 door. When I lock the driver's door with my key, one or two of the doors don't always lock and sometimes they do. What can I do to find or fix the problem. By the way, I started checking this site out to replace a rear wheel bearing, rear brakes and rotors, and rear shocks. I've read about the rear wheel bearings. Doesn't sound like much fun will be had replacing those. I just finished replacing front brakes, rotors, calipers, and rebuit the locking hubs on my Mazda 4X4 pickup. So, I need to get working on the bimmer right now. It just turned 100,110 miles and it's been good to me!

Try posting this in the E36 section, since you have an E36 and not an E34 ;)

Often a locking issue like you describe can be caused by a tired lock actuator for the affected door. I've never had locking issues with my E36s, so I can't help you. My locking issues with my E30 sedan and my E34 sedan were/are caused by tired or dead actuators though.
