If I add an M50 intake manifold, euro hfm, cams, and 3.46lsd will I be able to stay with an e46 m3? I already have a CAI, SS exhaust and dropped about 100lbs from the car.

I have euro HFM kit, headers, track pipe, exhaust and an E46 M3 and the only E46 M3 I raced couldn't pull away from me from 50-120(he was pulling, but it was so slowly, that it was unnoticeable).

I'm getting ready to install a 3.38 and I think I will be able to pull on them.

With euro HFM, headers, track pipe, exhaust AS WELL AS cams and a 3.46, you'll beat an E46 M3 rather easily and I'll put my money where my mouth is too.

Woah... Thanks for that response Arrag. You just gave me some hope! :] Also, that's hilarious. Putting a 318i on the back! I have only thought of people upgrading the badge or just taking it off but I never thought of downgrading it. lol.

i can pull away from an e46m3 with my mods...(see sig)
and the 3.46 diff will make the most difference in your attempt to keep up. cmt has one and the e46 couldnt pull on him til about 130

You know that 3.46 would do a lot more for you if you didnt have such a large diameter wheel/tire combo on there.

I'm sure you know this, but I just don't understand why you would invest in a $1500+ diff and then run huge wheels which basically reduce the benefits of the diff ratio.

I'm also interested in the tranny restrictor valve removal mod.

I think its a joke (tranny mod) , but my car pulls on smg e46's, and soon with my track pipe, 3.38, and ltw flywheel I should be pulling very nicely. I bet with some cams I can put a number on one, but I don't want to go the cam route.

Damn guys, this valve has been a hot topic around here for a while... Rob at UUC broke the news to the forum and several people have done it with good results. Basically, there is a valve in 96-99 M3's that keep the tranny from operating too fast so it would drive more lux... Remove the valve and shifting should be much stronger and crisp. It has the same threads on each end (but male and female) and you can remove it and just install the hose into the hole it left. supposed to be real easy!
