Hi I'm replacing my stock US headlights today with ZKWs. I have a US '96 M3.

1. Looking at the Bentley manual, it says to first remove the air filter housing, air intake duct, and air mass meter. Is this necessary? None of the install instructions I've seen have mentioned this. I was wondering if this is unique to US E36s?

2. Is there a trick to getting to lower bolts of the headlight assembly? The left side looks a little more difficult than the right.

Thanks!

The job is done with some help from a friend. It wasn't as difficult as it looked. Taking off the cover over the radiator was key. For those interested, none of the things the Bentley manual mentioned to remove first was necessary. Just the radiator cover.

One note for those who haven't installed Euro Ellipsoids yet, the ZKW housing is much larger than the US. As a result, I had to move the alarm horn. Just to the right (Facing into the engine compartment) of where the alarm horn is mounted is two holes. One is open, the other holds the wiring harness. We moved the wiring harness to the open hole and mounted the alarm horn to hole that had been used by the wiring harness.
