What is wrong with it?

If you are having a hard time getting the bolt in, than take the carrier (and bolt) to a indy and have them tap it (maybe die it). It was free for me, my mechanic did my oil pan in two seconds.

The tap will look like this

This way the threads maybe partially repaired (if that is your problem)
