In now being a touring owner I am finding there are a lot of interesting this about them. hatch stuff, double sunroof, 5 speed swap, etc

Would there be any interest in putting together a site with everything that is touring specific. I would be willing to host it and put it together.... But would ask help from others finding links and information. If I get permission from the originators of the information I can host all the pictures and data and what not so then we have some redundancy.....

If this sounds good please post ideas of what would be good to add...

Here is what I can think of off the top of my head.

5 speed swap
Double sunroof (opperation, cleaning, fixing, etc)
Rear Hatch issues
replacement of the glass struts
replacement of the hatch struts (about to do this myself)
Locations of things (relays, etc etc)
Suspension upgrades
Stereo upgrades

I understand most of this has been covered but it seems as if it is all scattered all over the place and it might be nice to have all in one central area or a wiki if you must.

If there is more that you would like to see start posting in this thread and I will start putting something together (with the permission of the owner of info)

I would be in for that too. I haven't had my car for more than two months, but I am learning through blood and sweat.

I need to start taking pics of everything I am doing along the way! All in all my car is in pretty good shape, but things need work. I also feel some improvements can be made sans factory.

I'd be happy to contribute photos of a gutted one (3/93 530iT), as well as the fact that front headrests fit in the rear seats with minimal modification.

I'd like to see the head rest mod please????

See here (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=16330349). I won't get to completely doing this mod (t.i. making it look nice) until my car runs, sometime in November at this rate.

I would say make it a all invited Touring site with sub sections for E30, E46, E36, E34...

There are a LOT of E46 touring guys doing some really really neat stuff to their cars.. Like a full ZHP SC converted car with E46M3 flares! its hot...

I'm game I love the Touring cars... :)

a LITTLE OT, but is there even a forum for solely e34 owners like there is for e28?

Thanks Moroza and Louie!
Just did the rear headrests. 40 minutes start to finish.
I took a bunch of pics as well.

Post em up! This is high on my list of things to do. I was thinking of trying to modify e32 rear headrests, but if e39 touring headrests work that's even easier.

I'd like to know how close the e39 tan is to our e34 parchment.

Of course I should fix my front headrests first, they're both stuck! LOL!

I used E34 fronts. I cut about 4" off the posts so they go all the way down.
I'll post the pics this weekend.

then write a touring FAQ and add it to my e34 FAQ. I saw no reason to write excessively about tourings since most everything is the same as a sedan (5 speed swap), and that which is not is either already in the faq or already written up at www.bmwe34.net

seems a slap to take the info and run, to me anyway. especially when you could never hope to have more than 500 members under the best circumstances, and realistically could only count on 30 max.

^^ I concur, lets not segregate the community.
