So I haven't been on the forums in a while because I'm busy working and with college, but my new job is pretty awesome. My dad's best friend has taken me in as an intern and is the process of buying a warehouse to put a lift and paint booth in and I will learn to do everything on a vehicle, gasoline, and diesel including sand blasting, powder coating and painting :redspot

So my questions are, how much do you guys think it would be for just primer and OEM Sterling Silber paint to respray my entire car?
And where do you guys suggest I start looking for a set of 18 inch BBS RCs in e34 offset besides craigslist and the forums?
And what should I start saving up for that will benefiet me the most, Miller MAF, Cams, etc? I know there isn't much we can do besides boost for performance in these motors, but I'm open to ideas

I'm pretty sure Kesslerbmw sells paint. Brady probably has as good of an idea as anybody.

For paint check TPC Global. There down in SD. Polyester filler primer is about $70 a gallon, paint will range all over the place. Plus you'll need the clear too. To paint my 69 Mustang in a two stage, materials will run in the $675 range. Congrats on the gig. I'm jealous.:D

repainted my car sterling silber a few years back after getting keyed. Was about 5k including repairing dents nicks, whatever the fuck was wrong plus sidekskirts and extra crap getting painted

nah insurance covered the majority, but I had to pay the deductible plus all of the extra stuff I wanted painted (paited lowers, the brake ducts I had installed, sidekskirts, pull some dents from the trunk area, etc, so I still dished out a fair share of cash from my pocket :help) Keep in mind that is for the entire car getting sanded and then resprayed

That sounds like a good price for what I hear for just resprays. But I'm going to be painting it myself now so no labor to pay for :D

Miller MAF, S3.73 (its worth it even though you already have a 3.64), an e60 ssk and you got yourself a hotrod. I wouldn't bother camming it until you have to open the head because of a different necessity.

Miller MAF will be purchased, and I am thinking of turbo so I think I'm going to hold off on the 3.73 because it would be better to get a lower ratio for turbo wouldn't it?

And thanks on the advice about the cams.

My boss also told me to start searching for m5 engines  i don't know the going price for s38s but i'm thinkin turbo would be cheaper and funner as long as i keep the boost low

Why not go with the Miller turbo setup?

Yeah, keep it simple and do the Miller Turbo set-up. They had a car with 488rwhp which is damn strong in a e34. The more messing around with different engines, the more tuning issues your going to run into. Plus the budget can get really big, really fast.

Wouldn't building my own turbo set up be cheaper and I can use their WAR chip to tune it?

BTW I wouldn't turbo an s38 it would be the alternative to turbo, but I would need a new tranny and other stuff as well so unless for some odd reason my boss buys me an engine I'm not going that path... as much as I would love to hear the sound of that motor in my car

If you have the knowledge then yes it would be cheaper to diy. I have very little knowledge of FI and don't want to use my dd as a trial and error FI experience. The Miller setup is plug and play and the customer support is great so its worth the price for me. Its also tuned for engine longevity which is why I bought the M30 in the first place. After I buy their kit I may try to make my own someday but I tend to learn best with hands on experience so a pre fabbed kit would be a great introduction to FI for me.
