I was seriously considering getting Janders's car with the smoking engine, but we couldn't work out a way to get it up here. But I had already bought a replacement engine for it. Oh well, guess maybe a project down the road. Wish I could run it standalone.

It came from a wrecked 740iL ('94) with 120k miles. Came with the wiring harness and all accessories except for the starter. Been outside under a tarp for a while, so I'll be cleaning it up a bit.

I figured it was Nikasil, and I got such a good price that it didn't matter. But, much to my excitement, I see a 1 745 872 on the block :D

Is there any way to find out how many miles are on this engine/short block?

Get the VIN from that parts car and call a dealer that doesn't care and get the service history. Or have the PO call it for you.

I'll let you swap it for free if you swap it into my car:D

If you get the VIN off the 740iL, you can take it to the dealer and see when the block was swapped and how many miles the car had at the time.

Do you know any dealers that don't care? I don't know the guys at my local dealership.

And... thanks... I'm trying to work out in my mind how this benefits me =)
