I don't know what makes this a Cali thing, but anyways, I would consider a Mini when they make them in RWD or AWD, otherwise I'm not interested in ANY FWD car out there . But that's just me :eyecrazy: .

FWD or RWD this car smokes any e36 or e46 M3 out there ,that is stock , and this statement is from my experience seeing how it blew away my boys e46 m3 from the line and if you have taste you would realize that it resembles no rice rocket . It only weighs 2540 pounds and has a heela lot of torque. But then again to each is own.

Yeah, it needs some cosmetic work.
For the most part, I like minis. If it was a RWD or AWD I'd be all over it.

then your friend wasn't racing. A stock cooper S does the zero to 60 in an estimated 6.9 seconds. Meaning, that it cannot take an E46 M3 off the line. Where it can take an E46 or E36 M3 is in the turns. Those cars handle better than any other car produced today.

The car would also be scary if it were RWD. Those little guys would spin out all the time, because of the short wheel base. I wouldn’t mind AWD, but that would add quite a bit of weight. I'm alright with the whole FWD thing, which is amazing, because I'm a RWD kind of girl, but damn can they handle, and they are zippy as hell. SO I sort of let that pass.

The shop is on Crown and Forbs in Mission Viejo, the car actually has quad exhaust. I admit, its ricey as hell.... yeah, but for the power its pushing, I can't really sit here and bitch about the body kit he chose.

wow, I haven’t done three posts in a row in a long time.

The guy who owns that car is the guy that fixed my car after my little mishap. I've got his stock front bumper and his S-lites on my car now  BTW guys, for you who are saying its ricey 1) its not his daily driver, its a show car. I'm pretty sure he drives an e36 m3 daily and 2) he has sponsors, its a show car, he has to have the stickers there. In order to be competitive you've got to have stuff like subs and whatnot, of course it'll make the car slower, but yeah, again, SHOW CAR.

Anyway, yeah, the car is insane. I hope I can get a ride from him some time when I'm back in CA.

And Lauren, just go down to the shop and talk to him.... its less than 15 minutes from you.

Let me drop some knowledge about this car to you. first of all this is the first widebody MINI in the USA , it is built by DAI Motorsports who is the new ZEEMAX dealer and instlalller , the stickers that you see on the side of the car is his sponsers who have spent heel of a lot of money on this so called rice rocket , and as you can see its JL audio ,sparco, mini mania ,zeemax. The car has already been featured by one magazine and there has been 4 different uro magz that have shown interest on it but they cant put a staff together fast enough , and there is two tuner magz that are waiting for the big brake kits and the forged wheels that are suppose to go on it before they do there feature on it . The car has been invited to many mini ralleys and sponsered events provide by every MINI dealer from Soputhern cali to nevada . So i guess all these people , marketing directors sponsers, magazines ,who are in the tuning and performance, audio ,and promotions dont know a dam thing but a few guys with stock e30s and e36s can still sit there and hate on a car that is rare and unique and representing a new breed of BMW cars that are blowing up all over the world because of tail lights that are a dealer part and an option when you purchase a new Mini , or some stickers , to thank your sponsers for there help and support. People stop hating and be supportive dont look at the first negative thing and make a ignorant remark about something , and if you do thats your opinion which everyone is intitle to ,then post your cars and the features you have on your cars and see the responses that you get about your cars , and then you realize how hard it is to do or accomplish what the owner of this car has. STOP H8888888ting.

Hey no ones mad there was a lot of positive and negative remarks from all the people (more + than - )which was good to find out , as far as the lights are concerned making the car ricey , you have to realize that is the only light out in the market ,and that this is a show car so the more you can make it rare and unique and custom the more exposure you will get . So if you hate the lights or its ricey thats your bizzz , but lets be honest how many of you guys were into the ricey seen before you became that so called EURO tuner pro, I bet half of you still own or cruiz in a ricey car still . I know I do ,JK my girl just bought a 350 z but much love and thanks for the response.

let me just post what i think is rice, so no one gets confused.

RICE: A car with excessive crap that serves no purpose and looks really bad. A car that uses played out parts, and is driving like it owns all.
----------------------------
That mini is tight, and if you want to be unique then theres other things you can in terrms of the taillights.

I to this day dont understand why its a prority to have after -market tails if your in the show scene, i much rather have custom smokesthen any of those other altezzas and shit.

--
As far as the "rice" scene, theres no such thing, and the 350z is a respected car by many people, scene and not. Its not rice, just like a stock civic isnt rice.
--
I began my obsession playing with hot wheels, at the age of three, then moved on to breaking things at my dads job on a daily basis and then at the age of 9 witnessed my first street race, and instantlly started looking for cool cars with cool body kits.

I then at the age of 12 developed a passion for BMW's when my fater sold his E28 and bought a E34 wagon.

I still feel that i am in teh "Scene" and i love it.

The fact that theres people that dont know anything, and think there stock Civic can spit fire, has nothing to do with the scene in my opinion. Ignorance can be found everywhere, the scene is just ONE more of the many places.

fatacbimmer, do you have the dyno results? Do you know how he got that much power? I know that mods on the MCS create a lot of power, but that's a pretty amazing number to be boasting. Any proof?

C'mon, I would like to see a stock Mini beat an E46 M3. Your 'bro' was apparently a horrible driver if he got beat by a stock Mini.

BTW, I am a big MC fan, and have driven a modded MCS at the track and can speak for any of the owners/enthusiasts who say that the car handles like it's on rails and does not possess the horrible track attributes of a normal FWD car. If it were RWD, it would probably be worse, being such a short wheelbased car.. Think about it.

From my understanding of the post, he said that his friend's MCS would beat a stock m3, not that a stock MCS would beat any M3. At 265hp and 2450lbs, it would have at least as good a hp/weight ratio as an e46 m3.

I think that car looks pretty cool. It's certainly unique! I like the looks of the MCS stock though too, and find it plenty unique as it sits (though give it a few years).

It's a unique challenge because the new MCS is already a radicalized take-off of the original Mini, so it's a fine line between individuality and heritage. But then again, if you saw some of the race minis from the 60's and 70's, there were some pretty funky and outrageous looking rigs back then too. Maybe it's a tradition of it's own.

Let me drop some knowledge about this car to you.

Sorry, but I do not see any KNOWLEDGE in any of your posts, except for trash talking.

Interesting body kit.

To each each own.

Styling is always matter of choice and taste.

Now how about some hard facts.

If it is 265HP, than it should put down at least around 230HP at the wheels. Having tuned several MCS in the past, we know that Eaton 45 is pretty much done at 205-215HP at the wheels.

If it is quicker than an E46 M3, which run at least high 13s in the quarter, how about some ETs.

A dyno graph and an ET slip will go a long way to getting respect.

BTW, stock MCS is at 2730 lbs. - stock.

DDD

Well, not quite sure where to start on this car.

OK, the styling. I am not a fan of that "widebody" kit. Just looks like some fender flares, side skirts that stick out too far, and I am not really liking the design on the front or rear bumpers. Like Vadim@evosport said though... "To each each own. Styling is always matter of choice and taste."

As for the stickers... as long as they are tastefully done, as his are, then thats fine. It's the Fast and Furious crazy flame designs that irritate me. The thing that is really getting me is... Why does he have BMW Motorsport colors on the aftercooler and hood scoop?!... they had NOTHING to do with this car.

ProMINI (aka BMP Design) claim to have a MCS up to the 265 mark with a 19% reduction on the pulley as well as the usual chip / intake / exhaust combo. Not sure I believe it, but hey... the car looks fast from the video they have posted on their site. :)

Someone once said to me about the MINI tuning scene "There is lots of talking and not enough doing"

I want to see some dyno charts and time slips for hard proof that people can do what they say... until then, its all talk. :stickoutt

Vadim

BMP's MCS put down 214HP with custom air-to-water cooler.

Their turbo conversion for MCS put down 288HP. That would be a very interesting car to drive.

A Mini is NOT the best handling car out there today. No where even close IMO. Sure it has a "nimble" feel to it, but when it comes down to lap times on the track, I haven't seen anything that great.

A couple months ago, I was at a weekend track event at Spring Mountain Raceway in Pahrump, NV (near Las Vegas). The So. Cali Mini group was out there, about 20-25 total cars. This track is very technical, and rewards a solid handling car much more than HP.

The only mini in the top level Advanced group with me, was a stripped down race car, looked like it was ready for a touring car race. Full Roll cage, stripped interior, built suspension, towed to the track, etc. Don't know much about the background of the owners, but they were pretty serious with their track setup.

The track was also at 3500ft, so I'm making about 200 rwhp (make 185rwhp at 5500ft), which is less than a stock E36 M3.

Bottom line, my car, with a street/track setup (on 235 BFG R-Comps) was eatting that thing alive. I was faster in braking zones, entry, mid, and exit corner speeds, and about even on the straight. The guy would push hard, but couldn't shake me, even at 8/10 effort. I wasn't very impressed. He was getting past by Boxsters, a 350z and stock Z06 also.

Anyways, this is just my own experience. Maybe it was the driver, maybe not, but I'm not a professional, and these guys sure acted like they were.

525iT_Feen's description of what a rice rocket is right on the mark , but the Mini is in a class all by itself. What other car manufacturor you know of thats been producing the same car for over 40 years while still retaining it's original goal and style? You can't apply the same rule to a car that has been this successful as to still being in production after 40 years.

I like the Zeemax kit a lot. As for the front bumper, I think the designer did an excellent job setting the Mini Coopers even further apart from anything you see on the road today. Don't hate just because it has mods on it that you just happen to find on a rice rocket. I think it's very unique and classy in the traditional sense at the same time giving it a modern look with the flares. my .02

I had a choice to buy a 2004 MCS or a used 2002 330Ci. Why did I choose the MCS? I liked the different body kits and mods for this unique car. Don't get me wrong.... I love the 330 (black on black BTW), but the Zeemax Mini is nice- thinking about getting it myself. My preference... smoke out the tail lights.

Gonna do some mods then post pics of my MCS. Haven't even gotten it yet! Still in production... :az:
