Just got some new Euro Elipses to replace the junk stock buckets. I'm in love with the glass covers, but I'm not 100% sure about using the stoneguard. Can someone give me a good explanation of this stuff? Is it thick? Is it noticeable? Does it affect your light pattern or visibility? Thanks!

Its probably about the thickness of two dimes stacked. Its clear as day, and only noticeable if you look for it, only noticeable from the side. It doesn't affect pattern or visibility at all.

It's about 1/4" thick, and when applied correctly you have to proactically touch your nose to it to see that it's there. Last time I had my car at a local shop they were marveling over it. It's damn good stuff.

Btw this isn't really mechanical, moving to general discussions.

Yup I agree, got them for both headlights and fogs. Hardly noticeable.

I've heard that they haze over time. Does anyone here have them for a long time? Better yet, what's the longest someone has had the shield on their lights?

I'm going to look into it then for the headlights. I don't have the fogs installed, I took them out and put in a ducting funnel that goes to the front brakes instead.

Or you can support a local vendor ;) We offer a 40 mil precut clear headlight kit for most BMW's. The nice added feature of our products is the use of handling tabs for ease of installation. We guarantee that our films won't yellow or haze. Visually and optically clear. www.lamin-x.com for more info and other products.

If only the supporting vendor "supported" my car. :( Lamin-x doesn't seem to make a clear bra for the e34...

Lamin-x - Alright! Cool to see you're in Winter Park! Can I order it locally from you? I think my friend Todd "Scooter" Gable (old highschool friend) was telling me he uses your product on his race cars a month or so ago. Is this true?

rwindleyme02 we do not provide precut paint protection kits at this time. We are although working on that. In the meantime there are other options for you. We provide a great solution for protecting your hood with a 4" x 72" a clear or smoked (cover up those blemishes) bug shield kit. Check out http://www.lamin-x.com/PaintProtection.html for more details.

You can also buy the film uncut and trim to fit your car perfectly. Your E34 does not have a great deal of double curves, so installation wouldn't be too difficult.
