This is super.
I go to remove the shift knob, and it will not budge AT ALL. I end up pulling so goddamn hard that I ripped the entire shaft off my Rogue Octane(this would be the second time that the bond holding it has failed). And that bastard shift knob is still nowhere close to coming off!! I am thinking of just cutting the bastard off. Any ideas how to get this off??????????!!! This sucks, I dont want to destroy the shift knob, but what can I do?
eloborate... is it the stock shift knob? aftermarket? if it is stock, all you gotta do is put it in to 2nd gear and just yank it but make sure ur face is no where near it cause you'll get whacked.

Be careful...I broke my windshield pulling off my shift knob...damn thing came loose and my hands went up and nailed the rear view mirror.

Its the stock one. Unfortunately, I had to destroy it. My motherf--king mechanic (or should I say ex-mechanic) put some sort of epoxy/glue shit all over the knob....this leads me to believe that he was wailing on my car and the knob came off. There was absolutely no way this knob would have come off by pulling. I am so pissed right now......!

Ya. With stock it is no problem for me either. I put it in second (not necessary, but this is convenient, because it puts the knob closer to you), pull up, and am greeted with a satisfying *POP*. And bingo, it's out. lol. That was so funny when I read u pulled out the whole shaft. That caught me off guard and I was laughing so hard.

damn...i bet he glued it on cause mine comes off so easy. Sometimes it even comes off in sprinted shifts, but it just goes back on.
not trying to jack your tread, but is there any other alternative to keeping the knob on better without glueing it on?

Supposedly you can wrap the top of the lever with one layer of electrical tape. Another solution is replacing the stock style knob with a Momo knob that uses set screws.

I'm going to try the tape, since mine pops off during any kind of hard 1-2 shift, if I'm not paying attention to it.

I just put a couple wraps of electrical tape on mine. Works great; it doesn't come off on the 1-2 shift anymore.
