My name is zak gettman. im a senoir in high school who attends a vocational center in the afternoons for automotive technology. i am wanting to get a job at a bmw dealership in my area. i would like to hear from any techs working at a dealer ship to see what they did to get there. Do you think it is necessary to go to a school like UTI or go straight to the dealer and get some hands on experience in the same time you would be attending school? please give me your opinions. Thanks:help

Try applying at a dealer and if you get hired thats great. Chances are you wont so back up plan would be community college majoring in auto tech. Pick a college that has a decent program / facilities. If you got 20+ grand to spend or want to take a big loan go to a vocational school.

Apply for STEP if there is one in your area and again if you get in thats great. If not you can try applying to dealers again now that you have training but they will say you dont have experience.

So then you find a job somewhere and keep trying I guess. If you need any more info just ask. But I promise I dont know much.
