From what I WAS TOLD happened.....
15 year old with his permit took out his '89 325i with his friend and mother. The friend was in the front seat and the mother in the back. He tried to throw it into a drift, lost it, and hit a guardrail several times.
I finally got the pics up, had to use cardomain to host em.

owned by we todd did racing!
Is this good 'ol "isaracing"? I keep hearing snippets of car wreck info about that kid, but never any details... (aside from the whole "lack of parking brake" thing, the 1st time) What gives?

Hey man, no offence but stealing bandwidth is a dick thing to do IMO. I have stopped many people from stealing my bandwidth and it is a pian in the ASS!!! You don't pay for it so what right do you have to complain. There are plenty of places out there that will store photos for free or god for bid you have to pay $5 a month for web space!!

Only a bit taken.
I signed up for We-todd-did. I uploaded pictures onto their site and I have my own personal folder.
I didn't steal bandwidth, I just didn't know that BF wasn't one of their sites I can host pics on.
Anyways.

With rear quarterpanel damage like that, I'll be damned if it's not. That panels damage require a new quarter panel, which has to be cut out and welded in, which is very expensive.
This car has similar rear quarterpanel damage and it was considered totalled yesterday.

...and so are the springs/shocks if I remember correctly...and the lip/splitter (which somehow looks intact)
:devillook
I wouldn't be surprised if those left side wheels have a bit of rash, though...
Where are you guys getting the story to this? Was he really trying to pull slides?
edit: and yep, I'd probably put money on that car being totalled.
And Dave's cabrio makes me want to cry.

my guess is that he was not really trying to drift
his mom was in the car + he is 15 with a permit....

He told numerous people that he was "drifting," and we all know how loose of a term that is these days, so who knows.

Drift: Controlled Slide
----------------
What he did: STUPID
----------------
I highly doubt that a kid who just got his permit, knows how to drift, because i know that as a kid who is just learning how to drive that its really not possible.
Besides i have a friend who is going on 18 and drives a 325 4dr, and he has been driving almost 2 years. STILL doesnt know how to drift. He's just begining to Auto-X so he's know learning.
I think the kid probably lost control and tried to lie about it. Or rather GLORIFY what really happened.

I would love to feel bad for the kid but I can't. Showing off for a friend in front of your mom? Are people really that stupid? Next he going to get a liscense too. Im sure Ill read about him in the paper.

DING DING DING, I'd put money on that being the case. I've seen that so many times on car message boards. People fabricate some wild story when the reality is they just did something stupid and wrecked their car.

Just reminds you how solid these cars really are! I saw a Maxima run into a truck the other day at very low speed. The front end was fucked. The E30 seems to have taken the hit well. A crush up front, a crush in back.

Totalled?!? A little bondo and that car will be as good as new.

It's an old car, it's gonna cost the insurance more to fix it than to say "Totalled" and give them 2,000 bucks for it.
Boomer

actually belive it or not but BMW body parts are just as cheap as civic parts!
my friend got into an accident in the summer with his 1991 325IX.
damage: bent axle, half gone trunk area, bent frame, totall loss of the stock rear bbs rims. its being redone/fixed now at te cost of the insurance company.
oh he bought the car for 5,900 btw, and the damage is like for 2,300 dollars estimated... like i said before, bmw body panels are NOT expencive. I've heard that from many collision body specialists.

Well I'm not a kid and I'll say it too. Everytime I see a post about a kid getting a new 30K+ car this image comes to mind. Learn to drive with a beater and stop ruining nice cars.

As a 16 year old with his permit and his road test sceduled for october 16, I Give a big thumbs up to this statement. I see all these kids get their permits and they ride around in Escalades or MB's like its nothing. I learned to drive on a reliable Toyota Corolla wagon with 202k miles on it. I had to scrape up my own money to get an '84 325. My freinds want me to drive it like a race car..... NO WAY! i'm going to baby this thing forever! Teenage kids have become Lax when it comes to the rules of the road.

You dont have to baby it, but before you start to push her, learn how to " drive" first.

I know how to drive reasonably well (i'm not claiming to be the god of driving) I've had my permit for almost 5 months, driving almost every day, just to lazy to schedule road test :D
I dont plan on pushing her ever ;)

Not all the kids are bad drivers. Like one of my cousin's. He has an Escalde. He's 17 and he takes good care of it. I'm so sick of seeing people bash on kids that they can't drive and stuff. What that guy did with his e30 is freakn reatarded, but not all kids are like that. Even grown ups have accidents too.
Sorry, just had to vent.

Been there, done that. It's not the best way, but you damn well learn your lesson ( with a couple of exceptions like Chris Isar )
Just to spice up this story for those who are reading about him for the first time. He has the car for 3 months at most. He wrecked it on the 2nd day for parking on a hill without engaging the gear nor setting the parking break. He somehow got out of the car without noticing the car rolling downhill. The car rolled down and hit a well. 1 month after he got his car back, now with about 2 grand invested on the car ( which obviously his dad payed for everything ) he does that stupidity.
Plus to whoever said not all kids are horrible. Yeah that's true. But we say damn kids ( I'm one ) because MOST of them are incompetent. That's a fact. The ones that know their limits and like to learn at safe places such as auto-x's, tracks, or open areas so they actually know what they are doing. But that's like 5%, and I might be exaggerating.
