View Full Version : Wipers dead, new motor?

So I had a company install an aftermarket alarm in my 1998 540i. I love it, the alarm is great, the guys really know their stuff (it wasn't some shoddy back alley installation).

Now though, my windshield wipers dont work. I've taken it back, they said I'm getting juice all the way up to to the motor itself and there's evidence that someone else was already in there (previous owner) looking for a similar problem.

I've checked all fuses, and in all of my BMW ownership I've never had a bad relay (if I'm getting juice to the motor, it shoudln't be a relay...).

New Motor? What concerns me is that with the wipers on full, I can't move them at all. If the motor were dying I should be able to assist it in its movement, I would think.

Lastly, with the car in the off position, the wiper sprayers work. With the car turned on, the sprayer does not work.

So....did they botch the wiring or is the motor bad? Maybe check the relay? Time to do my own electrical work?

Anything is appreciated guys. Thanks a million.
