View Full Version : Wind noise near drivers side mirror?

Anyone else notice a pronounced whistle around the driver's side mirror even at speeds as low as 30mph? Weather is nice and I've had the windows down on my E90 a lot, but this sound is annoying.
I can stop the noise by putting a couple of fingers above the spot where the mirror attaches to the door.

Is this something that can be fixed? Or just something I need to learn to live with?

I have also noticed a whistling noise at higher speeds with the windows down, didn't realize it was coming from the mirror I had thought it was from the window surround.

Not really a big deal though since I can't hear it with the windows up or with stereo volume up.

Yeah, its not a big deal. I've normally got the stereo on, but once in a while - when the windows are down, I'll shut it off in hopes of hearing the turbos...

From my aviation and E46 convertible experience, what is needed are some vortex generators on the side mirror, something to disrupt the airflow. My previous convertible had these.

I personally haven't noticed it but then again my radio is usually on when I'm driving. I know the wind noise is significantly less from my old E46 to the E90. So the noise could be there and I'd still think little of it.

I've noticed this as well, but like the post said above it appears to be a design issue. Just turn your music up louder.

yup i hear it all the time, even at low speeds. But once you get on it, the wind turbulance noise takes over :)
