I think I am burning oil and am trying to pinpoint the problem.

I'm getting some white clouds out the tailpipe, usually at 60+ mph, but sometimes at lower lower speeds. My temp gauge has been hitting max at some points, sometimes will stay there, sometimes will go back down to normal.

The car is not smoking from the hood ever and the coolant level is topped off. I just ran a stomp test and it came up to be 1222 (Lambda Control 1) Now, I have looked lambda, excuse my ignorance, but I couldnt find too much info on it. Is lambda different from an o2 sensor? Does this mean that my mixture is off, hence causing the smoke out the tailpipe? I can smell it inside the cabin and it has the smell of a candle that has just been put out. Not sweet.

I've just ordered a new temp gauge and valve cover gasket, but I feel like if it was the valve cover gasket I would see some smoke from the hood.

Anything you guys recommend? Besides that, the only thing I would guess is a clogged cat converter.

I'm not sure if the temp issue is related to the oil burning or not.

Any help is appreciated.

White smoke? Are you sure? cause white smoke would be coolant burning, blue smoke is oil.

The temp gauge peaking and returning is typical of bad thermostats. Have you done anything to the coolant system lately?

Well, it looks fairly white to me, but it doesn't smell sweet at all. As I mentioned, it really smells like someone blew out a huge candle.
