Have over 48K miles and the run flats need to be replaced. I would like to replace the original 225/45R17s runflats with 245/40R17s usine the stock wheels. They are about the same OD, but less than an inch wider. Does anyone know if there will be any clearance issues? Also, trying to decide between the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position.

The 245/45R17 would be 3/4" taller than the stock so I would not recommend it. I looked at your post and you mention 245/40R17 and 245/45R17. The 245/40R17 does fit.

The 245/40/17 will work perfectly fine.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your input. I'm going to try the 245/40R17's Pilot Sports from TireRack and see what the non-runflats add to the car's handling.
Thanks again.

You are going to notice better ride quality right of the bat. After that you will notice quicker turn in response and better lateral stability as the tires get broken in.
If I can help with the tires let me know.
