It is rather annoying because for one, you can't really check the quality of the oil and two, it is hard to trust electronics to give valid measurements for oil level.

I know you have to had 6.5 liters of oil after an oil change, but to have to turn the car on, wait 5 minutes for measurement, which in itself is not trully 100% accurate I think is more harmful then beneficial.

Have I opened up a can of worms here?

I figure it's another way to control emissions since it eliminates an engine opening.

I had words with my dealer a couple months ago over this. I took the car in for the oil change and the reciept showed they replaced the washer fluid too. There was no fluid when I took it in and no fluid when I left. My complaint to the dealer was, "if you didn't put washer fluid in, why should I believe you changed the oil?"

"I figure it's another way to control customers since it eliminates the easy way to monitor your own car.'"

There.... fixed that for you.

well, the funny thing is that two weeks after my shop replaced the oil, the low oil thing showed up, even after them topping off the oil w/ 1 l.

I have heard of a low-oil service bulletin, but it appears to only be winter specific thing....not sure though.

Thanks
