what parts/else is necessary to drop in an e36 325is engine (froma 94 is convertible) into an e34 525i
what motor mounts, kit etc etc.
the e36 325is engine does not include tranny/ecu/harnesses,
so will the stock 525i tranny/ecu/harness/etc suffice?

Don't know what the hell you just said...
...but is the engine in the E34 dead? Or is the E34 a M20 instead of the M50?

yea, like steven said, we need more info. what year e34? and why?
91 & up e34 525i's are m50 motors, same as e36.

Steve
asked 'pinoy' what years for the e34 in tagalog...
anyways, i'm pretty much trying to find out what options i have with this engine (of my friend).
if i have a low mileage engine, i think i'll just go ahead and purchase a cheap/high-mileage e34 525i or e36 325 etc.
i just need to know how 'hard' the swap is----if it's the same exact thing, then i should really have no problems right?
maybe just get new motor mounts?

Okay, you have 2 options with engines from the e36. They are both M50 engines, but one has vanos. In the e34 and the e36, the M50 w/vanos (M50tu) came in '93. If you want to replaced a tired engine with a fresher one from the e36 it is the same engine, just suddle differences to make the fit. You will need to change the oil pan and pump; and the engine stands/mounts (the metal ones that bolt to the block). that is pretty much it. If you are willing to change engines, you might as well get the engine from a '95 m3 and the only additional swap you need from the list above is the computer (ECU).
If you plan on changing the engine on a '91-'92 525i, you can only use the '92 325i engine.

thanks brandon, good info
so with my 94 m50tu engine, i can do a directish/easy swap into a
93+ 525i
93+ 325i
now if i choose to use the 93+ 325i e36,
i wouldnt even 'need' to have to change the parts listen above? maybe just get some newer ones for safety's sake?
btw,
what's the going rate for the 95 m3 engine--and with what mileage?

I don;t understand what you are asking. You wouldn't have to change what parts? If any e36 M50 based engine goes into the e34, you will need to change the pan/pump and stands/mounts. If you choose to use the '95 M3 S50 (another M50 based engine), add to the list the computer and maybe flywheel. Look in the classifieds for engines and prices.
Now there is always an OBDII to OBDI conversion for the S52 3.2L engines which can yield ~270hp and ~270lb/ft of torque in NA form. Just swap stuff from the e34 M50tu engine (add to the list vanos, intake mnaifold w/ TB & MAF, wire harness, fuel system), add an AA coolant hose adapter, a chip, and you are golden. You can look more into this kind of stuff from Active Autowerk and Turner Motorsport. Others can tell you also.
