I ordered some things and all finally came in, new grill, new clips to finish the shadowline trim, rear sunshade that looks awesome on my couch right now. I also ordered some OEM rear quarter sunshades. Looks like i may have a tough time getting them on, if they even fit on a 91 M5. I guess I will see. new dash speakers as mine were completely dried up. New buffalo leather center trim around the shift boot. looks good, will get some pics when i am done installing all of this stuff.

I ordered a new grill from pelican but went with the cheap one. It is going back, Looks like melted plastic, ugly as hell. I will just remove mine and clean it up real good.

Nice. I'm gonna have a day like that, tomorrow hopefully. New wheels/tires, a reinforcement plate for the driver's door brake, and new motor/trans mounts and accessory belts.

I would love to have a sunshade. There's one in a seven at the local junkyard -- just not sure how to install it in my package shelf.

the rear sunshade is 120 from mileoneparts. It is not the electric one, it is the manual one. the thing goes on so so easy and has 2 little hooks, looks nice. will install tomorrow

I love boxes on my porch when I get home!!

The hardest part installing the shades is getting the
clips in the headliner.

Must pics after you get the shadowline installed.

Ok, so I do not have many before pics but you guys know what dull, faded, yellow, scratched chrome trim looks like. Here is some of the pics I took.

some more parts in the living room and then to the exterior, I can tell you this, if you are going to do this DO NOT install the belt outter weatherstrips on the car, insert them into the new trim, then use windex to lube it up and slip it on the frame of the car. also, you will need 24 clips and all new outter weatherstriping

the driver and passenger lower door is all that I need to do, I am taking a break for now. my thumbs hurt

here are some shots of the rear door back window sunshades. not sure how to get the existing trim off and the new trim w/sunshade on. I know it may not work exactly by design but I will make it work somehow. any ideas

how much did the shadownlining peices end up costing u?

there is a few ways you can get them. one is from abrahammotorsport. that route is 672

If you can get them from a dealer in germany as a walk in order you can get them for about 350.

german newspapers sometimes have used one for about 250 but the door trim does slightly bend and you need to fix it before you install it.

If you have no german connections or planned trips it will cost you about 675 from abrahams, you can always get the part numbers off of realoem and order from tischer. maybe cheaper than abraham, I paid 300 for all 12 parts. I have friends in low places.

Do you have the special small brackets for the quarter shades? They go on the "c" pillar, or window divider, and the quarter shade attaches to them.

If I remember correctly the old trim on the window divider just pops off once you have the horizontal chrome, or in your case shadowline, trim along the bottom of the window off.

See my forthcoming guide to all the retrofits for more details on that (mysite.verizon.net/vze13j3fs/), and especially if you want to add the main shades for the rear door windows -- gotta do that too, can't just do the quarter shades, eh!

i ordered all of the parts in the realoem diagram so if it is there i have it. cant figure out where it may go however.

Where can I get the rear door window shades from? realoem is OUT, Germany has exhausted its supply. mileoneparts confirmed that for me.

The little brackets go where the old "c" pillar trim is, top and bottom. Their screwholes should be pre-drilled in the door sheetmetal. The quartershade goes on the brackets with one or two screws, and there are one or two plastic screw covers that cover up the shade screws.

If the factory is out (maybe they'll reorder if there's enough interest?), the main shades for the rear windows are occasionally available on eBay.de.

What percent is your tint? And is the OEM cd player a plug-n-play swap?

thomas824
