Can anyone find the VIN on this M3 s50 motor? I can't find it people say its on the back of the engine which is facing the firewall, well here is a shot of it...I cant find it though....

The tranny came from the same engine as the car...could this also be the VIN or is this different?

Should be right here. Is that your new motor ? Will you have any spare sensors or valve cover ?
I need them for my conversion also.

By the way. The head is stamped for late 94. Very easily be an early S50. Which would probably need upgraded valve retainers.

how much would that cost? Bad Valve retainers means broken head in the long run or something? So, the VIN number sticker ripped off my engine? Is there no other way to check for the vin?

dude, i don't know where you got it, but if it is ripped off, that could be a bad sign. (hot)

I think he was talking stolen. Do a search on valve retainers.
It is alot easier to do with the motor out.
