Engine hesitation!

From a stop; if I were to accelerate, the engine seems to hesitate or stutter for a couple of seconds and then it would smooth out and haul with no problem.

For some reason, this stuttering mostly happens from a stop and gets worse if the A/C is on.

I've asked some people and they say the Mass Airflow Sensor, but I don't really know what's up.

My friends SC300 also does this, but A LOT worse--it sometimes stalls out if not constantly being revved during a stop.

Mine '92 525i doesn't stall out though, so who knows if we're having the same complications.

Anyways, I would love to know.

Are there any codes present? Note that codes can be present without the cel being on. . .

You can retrieve codes by turning ignition on (but not starting the car), and immediately pumping the accel to the floor five times in quick succession. codes will flash through check engine light.
