Brand new '09 328i. I find the low beams don't light up pretty far. Anybody else had to adjust the headlights from factory?

Nope, they are probably fine. The left will definitely not have as much range as the right as per North American regulations.

My Acura with Xenon lights had much better range on low-beam. Never got flashed for blinding people, either. With the BMW there is a stark cut-off at about 25 to 30 feet after which it's total darkness. I cannot see a thing past that point, probably made worse by the stark contrast between lit and unlit. It can actually get scary.
I've been reading about this in another forum, and some folks are adjusting their headlights and getting much needed improvement. Some are also saying that their previous BMW was much better that way.

Mucking with your headlight beam adjustment is highly illegal and not to mention dangerous to others esp. with the Xenons. I wouldn't do it esp. in Quebec where the cops can be really mean. Just take it to the dealer for professional inspection and if there is a need for adjustment they would do it.
Last time I almost got out of my car to confront a guy whose Xenons were blinding me. Really not good.
