Dinan has a software upgrade for the 335. Just a simple laptop via USB download to the car. The yield is an 84 HP increase and loads more torque. 45 minute job - $2,000. It carries the same warranty period/miles as the vehicle.

Does anyone have any experience with this beast? I have some concern about possible long term problems with the engine.

300 HP feels fine to me, but 384 sounds enticing............

I just picked up a 335i. The dealer said that for $600 the'd give me another 100 horse and 100 ft-lbs of torque. Sounds like a better deal to me. Thoughts?

I'd say as long as the dealer is still willing to warranty everything, I'd sure as hell go for it.

A couple of things to remember:

BMW specifically warns against ECU modifications and if the dealer believes that the failure was caused by the modification, then they are obligated to deny warranty service.

Dinan supposedly will cover these failures. The problem is that Dinan may require proof from the dealership that the Dinan flash caused the failure - something you won't get from BMW. Most dealerships will only say that warranty service was denied because of a modification (all they need to say to deny a warranty repair) - that may not be enough to get coverage from Dinan.

Very clear cut is the problem with dealership installed "non-authorized-by-BMW" modifications. In this case, the dealership assumes the responsibility - which is fine until your car breaks 200 miles away from the dealership and the local shop (rightfully) denies you coverage.

Just because a dealer installs a modification does not mean that BMW will cover it...

Just find a BMW dealership that backs the Dinan warranty, I assume they still exist.

I got the Dinan Stage II flash. I live right next to a BMW dealer that does Dinan flashes. They cover all warranty work. Life is good.

I thoroughly enjoy the 384HP and 421 lbs torque.

I'd rather live next door to you, though. Maui -- can't beat it.

Anyhow, BMW of Encinitas, which is my home dealer, does Dinan. The closest dealer to me, however, is Brecht (about 1 mile from me). So, I do have to drive an extra 10 miles to reach Encinitas. It's worth it, though.

A great mod but for me,the closest BMW dealer with Dinan is a hassle to get to and visit if a problem arises.:(

I've got Stage 3, Dinan intercooler and oil cooler. I had a small problem with an hose that Dinan installed, found by my dealer (no charge) fixed by Dinan (no charge). 400bhp and 429 lb-ft, life is very good.....

I heard DINAN upgrades are overpriced. Has anyone looked JB3 (Juicebox) upgrades? I am leaning towards DINAN..but I want to save money as well.

My next question is, how comfortable is it when you drive the car? especially long drives to VEGAS and SAN FRANCISCO. I have a 335i coupe and I love the sporty ride. I want my car to have a mix of luxury and comfort.

Dinan is overpriced because you stay in warranty using it.
JB3 you don't.
