Are the E30 M3s any good. Do they have any probs. that keep some people from buying them. Are they as good as the e36's. I'm thinking about getting rid of my e36 325iS and getting a e30 M3. Should I or should I not.

I dont know what you mean by any good. The biggest problem is finding the right one for you. Many people have estimated that there are only about 2000 left in the US and still dwindling. It took me a year and a half to find mine.

An e30 m3 is an enthusiast car. It costs quite a bit to maintain, and quite a bit to keep running, but the s14 motor lasts a long time. The s14 motor doesn't have much torque (its only a 4cyl) but it is built for the high-revs. If you are looking for a car for city or highway driving, the e30 m3 is not for you. It is a no compromises car, and is only found in a standard trans. It is best suited for windy or curvy drives. It just doesn't have the power that some people need for their everyday commute.

An e36 m3 is better suited for someone that has to drive long distances, highways, freeways, or stop and go traffic.

Ask me anymore questions that you might have.

The problem with getting an E30 m3 is because of their rarity, they are getting pretty pricy. A good one will be anywhere from 15-20k dollars. An E36 M3, being quite newer, will be just a little bit more because of how many of them were made.

Crap there was a perfict red one in my city for sale about 4 months ago(if that) and it was in perfict shap and everthing, there was only one prob. they guy wanted a little bit to much for it but if I think about it he wasnt to far off and it was in great shape too. I will probebly ask you many more questions Bry, thanks for the help.

The E30 M3 was bred to be a racecar from the beginning. It was not a mass market item. The E36 moved it more into the mass market and the E46 version went even farther in that direction.

The E30 is a very good car. Before I got my E36 M, I was very close to buying the E30. I would still like to have one just for the more sportscarishness of it. It may not be as quick but it is somewhat more agile and responsive.

I put a wanted add for an e30 m3 after looking fro one for 2 years. I could not find a decent one, mind you I live in Canada and its not the easiest country to find a good clean M3. One day a fellow by the name of Allan called me up. He had a prestine 89 M3 2.5 in white. I had to go see the car . He was asking $30,000
Canadian for the car. I thought that was outrageous, mind you the car was totally modified, yet still stock looking...I finally decided to buy the car after 2 weeks of negotiating with him. I bought the car for $26,500. i know I payed a lot of money, but it is well worth it considering the fact that they are as rare as a car you can buy... and the fact that he didi the 2.5 conversion to it along with full suspension.. this car has it all!! I dont regret anything.. this car is truly an enthusiasts dream!! The e30 M3 is like no other car I have driven. if you decide to buy the car, make sure you find a mechanic who knows the E30 M3 nside out!!!:book: Make sure you have all the maintenance records of the car and be carefull of the timing chain!!!!!!! good luck!

If you are handy with some good tools, definately buy the E30 M3 repair cd. I am not sure what the name of it is but it has tons of info regarding reparis, and maintence and all that stuff.

TorontoM3, how does the 2.5L conversion compare to the stock 2.3L?

The E30 M3 was bred to be a racecar from the beginning.

How does this account for weak power and huge rubber (which lead to body roll and "comfort"?
