where is the coolant leaking from? there's a seep hole at the bottom of the water pump
if the coolant is leaking out of that seep hole, then yes, it probably is going bad
if it's coming from up higher, it could be your thermostat gasket or an o-ring
you should have changed the thermostat gasket when you changed the thermostat, did you?

Yes, it could be water pump. It could be a number of things.

did you bleed, bleed, bleed?
This is the most common issue after any cooling system work.
1. turn on heat all way, fan on high
2. start car and let it get to temp (thermo opens)
3. shut car off, bleed, add coolant
4. repeat until no more air comes out.

1. how bad did u overheat the engin
if it is bad you may have to do valve job
2. some one allready have told you it is fan cluch it could be going bad
3.the system has to be bleed, any air in the system you will overheat
4did you place the t-stat properly

M50's can be a pain in the ass to bleed.

It might help to Jack the front of the car when bleeding to cooling system.
This helps to bring the air pockets to the highest point in the system.

Water pump. The factory ones have a plastic impeller that breaks off eventually. If you replace the water pump, buy one with a metal impeller. You can get them from bmaparts.com

The impellers break off do to the lack of maintenance on the cooling system. Changing the coolant every 2 years along with the inspection of hoses is a good way to care for the system. Always use quality coolant and NEVER use tap water, always use distilled water mixed with coolant.
